Management In search of Mourinho's successor.

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Managers have less of an impact than many of us give them credit for. Where would Klopp be without the recruitment team he has behind him at Liverpool? He's on record as saying he didn't want Salah for example. Similarly Rogers is benefitting from some very savvy transfer dealings at Leicester.

Improving our recruitment / scouting is the most important thing. Buy good players and we'll be in good shape, even if we pick a so-so manager.

I liken Managers to drivers and riders in motorsports.

Obviously you get the standouts, who will perform above what they’ve been given but normally it’s the basically the best equipment wins.

I'll keep it brief, interested to hear your thoughts though as you questioned my statement.

When poch signed for spurs, points aside Southampton were right up there, 2 places behind spurs at the end of the season, apositive goal difference, few goals conceded, plenty of draws but a sign that he could achieve with very little - age was also on his side.

Brighton have negative goal difference, won half as many games as spurs currently(bearing in mind the travesty of a season spurs are having) and are 15th fighting it out with burnley and Newcastle.

In any other industry it would be absurd to consider a move like this but apparently with football it's worth a punt because he's young and the football looks alright

This is reductive in the extreme.

Poch’s Southampton was way better talent wise than the current Brighton team.

If it was all about Poch, Southampton would have fallen off a cliff the second he left - they didn’t.

OH YEA BABY.
It's gaining steam.
:levywhoa:

The Gazetta tends to know what is going on in Italy.

Ali G have said that to his knowledge this has no legs. But then you end up with which believable journalists that you believe in.

The Portuguese press were quicker with the Gedson loan than Ali G and Dan Kp were. And the Dutch press were way ahead of the English press on the Bergwijn move for another example. So we should probably not write it off completely.

My skepticism would be that it seems like all the reporting on this is coming out of Italy which might suggest that it is being leaked by Sarri's camp to try and give him some publicity/leverage in other jobs.

It could also mean that the club doesn't want to discuss it because they still have Jose in place and that is why the English journalists aren't hearing anything, but Sarri makes very little sense for us as a club and doesn't seem like a great fit with Levy so I will still look at it with a very big grain of salt.

I don't think that Sarri should be written off because he was at Chelsea for a cup of coffee.

If we are going into a rebuild we could do worse than him to be honest. Yes, his Chelsea and Juve teams weren't the greatest. But if given time he could probably replicate something more in line with his Napoli. Which played good attacking, possession based football. Which seems to be what a lot of people want.

Would he be the greatest get? Probably not. Would he be the worst get? Also probably not. I think he would be fine if given a real chance. And we have a fair few players that fit his style.

His Chelsea team finished 3rd in the league, won the Europa League and lost the League cup final on penalties. I think he's one of the best options out there.

And his boring Juventus side still won a Scudetto.

I get that for some there is heavy tribalism involved, even if subconsciously. But he was there for a year and if we are looking to rebuild we could do worse than Mr. Sarrismo.

He'd be a terrible appointment. He didn't command the respect of the Chelsea players, which is damning indictment of a manager.

I like Sarri more than most but I think he’d be a terrible fit at Spurs, regardless of the veracity of the report.

Really? I actually think that he is more suited for a club like Spurs than he is for clubs like Juventus.

But I also really liked watching his Napoli team so I guess I have some inherent bias.

My ideal appointment is still Potter. Feels like a new Poch scenario to me.

Can we not just go for an up and coming younger manager who is tune with the supporters?
Do we need to keep getting ex scum managers that have been sacked?
He also has an ego and does he still smoke on the touch line?

All these shit ass managers being linked with us and I haven’t seen one single report that we’re considering Ten Hag who I think is a mile better than Santo or Sarri. Ffs Tottenham

At least get Potter in if it’s not Nagelsmann or Ten Hag.
