I think I tend to lean more towards Ten Haag. Unlike Nagelsmann, he has won titlea/cups in Netherlands, he has European experience, he can develop youngsters and he seems to be able to get something out of players who were poor in Premier League for eg Tadic, Haller, Klaassen. Of course due to lower quality in Eredivisie they might look better than they are, but I think Ten Haag should be one we have to consider for the job.

He also wants his teams to play attacking football and Ajax was the neutral fans favorite during the UCL season when we faced them.
And how soon would you want him sacked, if things don’t go according to plan?

How long will you give him - should things go pear shaped?

I used to be a big Serie A watcher but haven't seen a thing since lockdown last year other than the odd highlights.

For those of you that still watch what's the score with Gian Gasperini at Atalanta. Tiny budget and has them playing really well for a while now, they are just 2pts behind Juve. His name never gets a mention.

Not saying he's even on my list but surely he's worthy of discussion from those that know. Spill yer beanz please.........

Depends. If I see no progress like now with Mourinho, 1 1/2 is more than enough to make a call.
I don’t mind him, as he does play good football WITH the players he has.

No idea what kinda football he can play with our lads. How good will his football be with Dier spraying passes into the stands, or Winks confusing opponents for Spurs, etc.

Yes, he did coach Sanchez, but that was before Sanchez watched Bambi!

He has good enough players to play the sort of football he wants to play. 2-3 players in the summer and we have a capable squad imo. Ten Haag coaching and managing it would be beautiful.

You didn’t answer my question though. I’m assuming these 3 players you’re bringing in will see others ship out, such as the aforementioned?

There is absolutely no fucking magic Ten Hag or 11 Hag or anyone can do playing football with Sanchez & Dier as their main back line.

What’s the point playing crisply in the middle of the park only for your defender to do a flying header straight into his own net!

Fairly certain he's said that he has no ambition to coach outside of Italy.

He's also flopped at every other club he has been at. Atalanta is more or less the perfect situation for him. Small (for now) regional club where he has more or less full control.

EDIT: I try to keep my eye on Gattuso since I think that he will have a bright future as a manager. His status at Napoli seems to be constant limbo (kind of like Ole at United) where as long as they win games he is heralded as the future, but two bad results in a row and apparently the president is looking to sack him.

His wife is from Scotland so I could see him being interested in coaching in the UK at some point.

I watched more last year than this year. My concerns with him are that he is tied to that formation of his, I think we could probably make it work with the guys we have outside of the CB's which would need at least two new guys to come in, although not much different from now. I would say Kane and Son are not the ideal players for that system but are good enough that they could fit into it. When it works it is a ton of fun to watch and creates a lot of attack, when it does not they get ripped apart. I am not sure if that is the formation, his tactics, players or a combination of everything but they do seem to look really sometimes.

Also he is 63 having spent his whole career in Italy. Is there going to be issues with him transitioning to a new league/country/language. Could be nothing and he could come over easily, may already speak fluent english and could manage for another 10 years, but things to be considered.

Finally, I wonder it Atalanta is not the perfect spot for him. He doesn't have the budget that other teams have so he can pick the guys that work for him but also will then listen to him because they are not coming in on huge deals. If he does not have great success less pressure because Atalanta is not expected to win titles/trophies.

I think it would be fun to watch, I think he would bring joy back to Tottenham football but I also think overall it will be underwhelming in terms of success.

Rodgers
Potter
Nagelsmann
Howe
Frank

I would all be happy with, not necessary because they are the best candidates but all could build a 'project' and that is the direction we need to go in next - we need to overhaul the squad and I would like to see someone young and energetic with lots of ideas put their stamp on the team for the next several years.

I only have time to watch us twice a week and a bit of Championship football too, that's the current saturation point for me, I simply don't have the time at the moment because of work to engage with watching a lot of, say, Italian football or the Bundesliga, so there will be good candidates I've never heard of I should be mentioning. Thomas Frank from Brentford could be an interesting choice, he seems to be able to replace key players because the system he has created for the team works well. Hassenhuttl seems to be having a bit of a 'mare right now, so maybe he's less appetising than a few months ago.

If that is the case, which I disagree that it is, why not play a fun style rather than this shit that Jose has us playing?

Even if you think a new manager isn't going to fix problems with the team, again a ridiculous idea, isn't it worth it just to get rid of what is the worst football to watch in the PL?

He's a very systematic coach. More about the collective than assembling expensive individual talent. He employs a kind of man for man pressing system without the ball (bit like a Bielsa system), and with the ball it's also a bit Bielsa-esque, bit like Hasenhuttl's (or even Nagelsmann) approach, move it as quickly as possible, move it as vertical as possible, quite high risk.

I really like what he's about, but I think he's in his ideal environment at Atalanta.

This is why Rangnick appeals to me so much, he's a coach who believes in a similar ethos, has coached it, and has influenced many young coaches likewise, him as DOF would see us create an environment where the Bielsa/Gasperini/Nagelsmann/Hasenhuttl etc type systematic approaches could flourish,

I wonder if Nagelsmann would work under Rangnick again? A double whammy signing.

Rangnick is currently available, Chavs tried to get him before Tuchel but he turned them down as the contract wasn't long enough. Nagelsmann is currently on €5m so very getable even when paying comp.

Yeah, I posted an interview with Rangnick a few days ago, where he talked about the Chelsea offer.

I think Nagelsmann will potentially have bigger suitors than us, but we do remunerate our coaches very well, it's not impossible, even more likely if Rangnick was our DOF I think, as he (RR) hired him (JN) at RBL and he would know that he (RR) would be on the same wavelength re recruitment and squad development etc.
