Wouldn't be gutted with Parker at all. Bit of a risk but then so are all of the candidates.
Parker has been more impressive in terms of coaching than Jose.

Particularly defensively. Fulham look much better now. Whereas we don't look like we have changed.

Parker has worked with the defence, he has chosen his players and allowed them to build some cohesion through consistency.

We are basically mix n match.

Rodgers, Naglesmann or Erik ten Hag as next permanent please.

Whether any available now is debatable, so someone in to guide us to end of season and get players playing with a smile on their face and to their strengths is all we need.

Yeah, I posted an interview with Rangnick a few days ago, where he talked about the Chelsea offer.

I think Nagelsmann will potentially have bigger suitors than us, but we do remunerate our coaches very well, it's not impossible, even more likely if Rangnick was our DOF I think, as he (RR) hired him (JN) at RBL and he would know that he (RR) would be on the same wavelength re recruitment and squad development etc.
I think we are best suited to a Naglesman, just as I don't feel Real Madrid, Barca, Utd, Juve would go near him as he's still very young (yes I get all have hired in effect rookie managers but all were associated with the Clubs beforehand in some kind of cult status level). Spurs now have everything in place to support a manager that puts them on an even keel with all the big powerhouse clubs in terms of infrastructure. We're just nowhere near them regarding history and stature. I think that also makes it an easier decision for him (or someone of his career standing), the expectations and demands are still very different.

I used to be a big Serie A watcher but haven't seen a thing since lockdown last year other than the odd highlights.

For those of you that still watch what's the score with Gian Gasperini at Atalanta. Tiny budget and has them playing really well for a while now, they are just 2pts behind Juve. His name never gets a mention.

Not saying he's even on my list but surely he's worthy of discussion from those that know. Spill yer beanz please.........
He likes to play with three at the back, with two central midfielders and one ACM, wingbacks on both flanks and two strikers. 3-4-1-2. He wants to attack from left, right and centre, and his team has many goal-scorers (at least they did last year). They don't rely on one or two players to save the day. I didn't have many opportunities to watch them this season, unfortunately.

I particularly like Robin Gosens and Hans Hateboer (injured lately), their wing-backs. Shame that Gomez left this January. They still have quality upfront, with Ilicic, Zapata and Muriel. Their defense is not mind-blowing. The weakest part of his team, really.

This season they declined a bit compared to last year. I think this is partially because he is trying to find the right balance since they shipped 5 goals to Liverpool at home and publicly stated that they must adapt their game in order to concede less, and sometimes you must adapt to your opponent.

However, he still seems to struggle to do so since they still concede at least one per game (29 in 22 games in Italy), so they didn't get the right balance between defense and attack. Yet, they comfortably beat Liverpool away (0-2), Milan away (0-3), and drew to Juventus away 1-1 after they decided to go more 'balanced'. Overall, they are in a very changeable form recently and it's hard to tell which team will show up in the next game.

They will play in the Italian Cup final against Juventus. They sit at 6th in Serie A at the moment.

He is also backed and respected by the club, which was reflected recently in his conflict with Alejandro Gomez. Gomez was their captain and enjoyed big authority in Atalanta, after spending 7 years with them. Still, he was punished for disobedience (didn't want to play in the second half vs Midtjylland because his role on the pitch was changed, something among those lines), they sent him to the stands and shipped him to Sevilla in January.

Not sure if Gasperini is willing to move out from Italy at 63, plus, Atalanta fits him and what he wants to play, and has less pressure from the board to get immediate results.

I don’t think our current infrastructure, no DOF, poor recruitment set up, no identity, ageing squad who’ve spent the last two years plodding around in a bus park, is exactly appealing to someone like Nagelsmann who may not want another long term budget “project” for his next job, but there are others who I’m sure would jump at it.

Our only realistic chance at Nagelsmann would be if we had Rangnick already here and we could also make him a financial offer he couldn’t refuse, whilst none of the bigger clubs were showing interest.

let's stop dreaming about getting nagelsmann, he is destined to get a bigger job

The single biggest indictment of Mourinho for me is that we do nothing well enough and that our whole is less than the individual parts.

Not good enough by any stretch.

Allegri tactically is incredible. Well known for his changing game tactics and bringing on subs that change games. Prime example v Spurs in the CL where he completely turned the game and schooled Pochettino. Allegri was my choice with Mourinho when Poch got the sack, so I wouldn’t be upset to go for him if Jose goes. Happy with him or Ten hage, Negalesmann or Brendan

isnt Allegri quite defensive though not sure the fans would want that so much after this show.

No not really mate. I think it’s a bit of a myth that because he’s Italian, that automatically makes him defensive. His Juventus team were extremely good to watch. His football is more possession based and building up, so his teams passing and moving is his strengths. He’s also prone to switching formations if need be, so tends to switch tactics depending on how the opposition are playing. Even Pirlo highly rates him and said Allegri allows the team to play with freedom. Make of that what you will mate.

I think we can all accept defensive/counter attack football with results but it's being able to sustain it every week... and it's something we can't.

I would say Ten Haag would be my choice. Think we would have a better chance of getting him from Ajax than we would say Nagelsmann from Leipzig who is more than likely eventually destined for Bayern/Dortmund/Madrid in the future.

You didn’t answer my question though. I’m assuming these 3 players you’re bringing in will see others ship out, such as the aforementioned?

There is absolutely no fucking magic Ten Hag or 11 Hag or anyone can do playing football with Sanchez & Dier as their main back line.

What’s the point playing crisply in the middle of the park only for your defender to do a flying header straight into his own net!
What was your question? If we can play from the back with Dier and Sanchez? Probably, depends on the opponent. That’s why Poch and other managers who believe in playing from the back use a midfielder pivot (or two if the opponent’s pressing is very high and man oriented) to collect the ball from the defenders. I think we used Hojbjerg at times like this, but we’re not consistent as Mourinho is not a fan of having structured patterns in possession nor does he like patient possession football.

Remember, Woolwich play from the back whilst having dross like Luiz and Bellerin...

More of a Nagglesman fan in terms of the style of football played but earlier posts in this thread looking at Ten Haag did make a good point. Players like VDB and others who are not that great looked really good under him so he seems to be able to make average players play well and with our defence that could be key.
