Management In search of Mourinho's successor.

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I think we have to be patient and let the rebuild take a few years. So getting a manager like Potter in to man it and shape the team makes sense. Give him 3-4 years to work his magic and do his thing. And we shouldn't start discussing sacking the new guy unless we are finishing consistently outside of the top 10. We should still aim for European football each season, but not necessarily CL as the required minimum.

The Pochettino/2010's project should be declared over and a new project should be allowed to take shape.
Managers don’t get 3/4 years though

Jose didn’t get 3/4 months before people were on his back

That’s exactly what I mean and others were totally against his appointment in the first place so no one is going to get 3/4 years to show what he can do
I will give Potter rope because:

A) he isn’t Mourinho

B) he’s shown he can get a team with less talent than ours playing a progressive style.

C) as long as the results aren’t disastrous in year 1 and he’s shown he can imprint his principles on the team.

If you think I was on Jose’s back because I’m impatient then you couldn’t be more wrong. I was against Jose full stop because he’s Jose. He’s been even worse than the doomsday scenario in my head.

I like Potter but have Brighton ever finished in the top half with him in charge
Has he ever won anything at all?

I used to get excited and interested about a fame, anticipation and if we lost I'd be gutted but it's all so predictable now. Jose has fucked us good and proper. He's had time, he's had money, he's had a decent (not outstanding) squad, he's had a reasonable budget, he's had one of the top strikers in the world, and every opportunity to make us better. And he hasn't. For 15 million quid a year. He's alienated fans, players, media in the space of just under 2 years.
I used to move heaven and earth to watch every game and now? I barely remember we play now and when I do, I find it so so so difficult to care.
He is destroying my club and I hate him for it. I hate levy for allowing it (and no matter what any of us think about levy, our periods of greatness and lowliness have been supervised him...if he's culpable for shit decisions, he's also responsible for the good decisions...however, the highs and lows have always revolved around manager performance....good managers make average players better and provide the good times, shit managers don't do that and also manage to destroy morale, and make excellent players absolute garbage. Jose is a low, a real low and will never be remembered for anything good.

Someone the other day said they were happy that our poor results kept fucking up his record (winning Europa League when in it, no more than 10 losses in a season etc)....I'm not happy about the losses and the lack of morale and the playing style but I hope he enjoys a taste of his own medicine...

Jose out. Soon.

Could not have put that any better myself. Gone are the days where I would be up at 4 am to find a pirated stream in a language I didn't know Just because I loved to watch us play.

Now that I look back on it, I think that Champions League final was the beginning of everything, but now it's just an emotional strain I can't handle.

I'm feeling very conflicted in all honesty. I don't think we are as bad of a team as we seem to be at the moment. Yes, we have some major issues in the team, but overall we are waaay underperforming with some of the talent we have. So, a part of me thinks that with a new and more dynamic coach and a couple of key new additions we could be right back in the thick of it. With a respected enough coach, it may be easier to grab those key, impact players. That's a lot of if's though, but if it works it is a quicker line to success.

On the other hand, the idea of going with a Potter type of coach, and maybe we can get back to enjoying Spurs again and not having everything feel so goddamn toxic would be fantastic. This could still be really successful for us, but may just take a little longer to rebuild.

I look at it this way, we are in a similar situation when Poch came in. A team needing a breath of fresh air. Names do mean something, but I think this group of players are sick and tired of hearing they only have one way of attacking. That they are weak mentally and so forth.

That's why I think names like Allegri dont bring much excitement to a squad. Yay! Another manager that would rather manage a game than have his team play to their best abilities.

We have to go for excitement to get the squad, the club, and most importantly the fans to come back screaming COYS!

It's a critical period and for me, Potter ticks all the boxes. People want a progressive coach that gets more out of his players. I suggest reading Potters wikipedia to see what he has achieved with lesser teams.

Anyone is better than Mourinho at this point, but it's a bit absurd how few options there are. I don't want any of the experienced managers that are linked. Might as well, in true Spurs spirit, hire Scott Parker or Graham Potter and hope for the best. Audere est facere

He's a former Swedish cup champion. He took a team of cast off players out of the Swedish fourth tier and into the Europa League round of 32. Winning a game at the Emirates in the process as well as beating Galatasaray, PAOK and Hertha Berlin on the way there. And drawing against Athletic Bilbao.

So not really then.

He’s a guy who used to own a corner shop that he built up to be quite successful in the block it was based. Had a coffee machine, fresh baked goods and everything.

Then he moved to the Aldi along the road and he’s doing ok. Staff seem happy. His easy to please customers are also doing ok. Neither brilliant nor terrible.

And we want to now hand him the keys to the massive Sainsbury’s on the edge of town? The big fucker with two car parks? Just because he had a lovely wee corner shop a few years back? Not for me Clive.

For all these randoms mentioned i still think it will be one of Naglesmann or Rodgers. They were the 2 other names linked when Mourinho was appointed and seem to be the 2 top choices now. I haven't got much tolerance with Levy at the moment the way he's handled the last 18 months but he's pretty good at getting in the manager he wants, albeit a lot of them have been shite. I can only think of Van Gaal when we got Poch and possibly Rodgers when we ended up with AVB that have blown us out. We look a mess now but we're still a big pull.

F Mourinho. He has got the Spurs Fan Base believing we need another rebuild. Levy needs to go get a top quality manager and set up a structure for that manager to succeed. I do not understand why our owners are like anchors that have always stopped us just short of taking that next step.

Their is a good squad at Spurs, yes some players need to be moved on but we need to show ambition. We need at least 1 rb 1 cb and maybe a gk. We also need a manager that can get them playing.

Well Nagelsmann is going to Bayern so it won't be him.

A new manager with an exciting vision and the feeling of it leading to something will get time from the fans and the board.

Mourinhosaurus was a bitter twisted bastard ever since his stint at Madrid, a stint that changed him for the worst. As the years went on he's got more and more out of touch as the years went on. If not, he wouldn't be at Spurs.

We do need a rebuild tho. Maybe not a full on rip everything out and build from scratch one. But we do need one. 90% of most player threads have been people bitching about how bad some players are and it has been that way for years, even before Jose.

Jose has just made it more obvious that the lifespan of this team has been passed and we need to reboot.
