Player International Break Watch

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I dunno what it is, we do 12 weeks in summer and I’m not a bother but the international breaks actually kill me, like it’s only 2 weeks? How does it feel so fckn long!

I think by the time the summer comes...everyone needs a break from the relentless pain and misery that comes with following spurs.

International breaks just fuck up the momentum of enjoying this pain and misery.

These international breaks need to go.

I haven't watched any football.

The international football needs binning off until the end of the season.

The season will finish a month early and the games can all be played in a condensed period.

I'm looking forward to tonight, mainly because I'm going and the atmosphere should be banging, but yeah I can't wait for Spurs games again.

We're going to lose a drab game 1-0 to Villa aren't we

Probably...

There actually will be less of them next year, albeit one long one.

From 2026 onwards, this will be condensed into one period which covers the final full week of September and early October, in which each nation can participate in a maximum of four matches. The change means that clubs across the Premier League and other top European leagues will have around three weeks without football from September 21.

Though the alteration does not change the number of international matches played in the September-October period, it reduces the total length of international breaks. At present, the two international windows each bring a two-week break from club matches but the change instead will mean one three-week gap, which provides extra time for club fixtures.

Random hypothetical:

Would you rather be a marginal/fringe player for a major footballing nation (i.e. France, England, Germany, Brazil, Argentina) that has a chance to win trophies (Sissoko-esque).

OR - a regular starter for a minor footballing nation (i.e. Wales, Austria, Denmark, Costa Rica, Colombia), mostly hoping just to make a major tournament (Davies).

Call it the Mikey Moore conundrum - you have to make this choice as a teenager not knowing how the future will unfold.
