24 days to the next EL game and "resting" key starters is a total joke. Poster Kaz Hirai told me with a straight face in the match thread earlier that it was completely sensical and warranted.
I'm much more worried about players losing form from being underplayed in 24 freaking days. People have come back from broken foot injuries in not much more time than that!

But didn't rest Grey , an 18yo who has played insane minutes for his age , and unfortunately looked like it was catching up for him .
The biggest amazement for me was starting with Bissouma , Bentencour , Tel and Johnson , Solanke must've been think WTF "I'm on my own again" .
But seriously where did they think the goal chances were going to come from , and the first half stats back that up , yet again .
I almost feel like Ange just doubles down to prove he can .
Ange might be a tactical dick, but Maddison is probably on course to have his most productive season per minute on the pitch.
Not going to lie, I went to play tennis after the match and then started drinking with my mates when we were done. So, yes I’m an unreliable narrator right now.
If he’s so productive why isn’t he getting the minutes though?
A) because for some reason Ange (and a lot of our fans) preferred Kulu for a while. This was nonsense, Maddison is better at almost everything.
B) He is brittle. Ange is worried about him and manages minutes. And in scrappy, physical games he does sometimes get lost. Eriksen was the same, as are most of these types. Only very rare freaks who have it all are exceptions.
Because manager has got no fucking clue whatsoever.

I would have understood not starting Madders yesterday. If we had Thursday match coming on. Or even potentially when he'd be gone for inernational duty to spare him a bit. NEITHER OF THOSE THINGS ARE HAPPENING.
There would be some mitigation when we would have some good alternative in there who we could use. Or that he would have given some academy player a chance at his expense.
But neither of those either. He started the game with three defensive midfielders. And with a winger that does not create or take players on (Johnson) and another player on the wing who has never before played on the wing (Tel).
That is pathetic and criminal mismanagement.
It's madness what Ange is at. He didn't know how to rotate earlier in the season when we were going well in 4 competitions. Now that we are down to 2 he's overrotating and the team has lost all chemistry!
We literally don't have a game for 18 days now yet he was resting half the team yesterday
It's like he doesn't realise it's an international break and only found out after the game. He prob thought we had Frankfurt this Thursday!!!
The worry is we changed it 2nd half and I can only think of one real chance we created .
Maddison is not even half the player some of you are trying to make him out to be. He did not play well yesterday and he was partly at fault for one of their goal.

Also our players have to do a better job of protecting him and making officials aware of the attention he gets. He gets kicked to shit, and our players and manager are sodding silent, so he continues to get kicked and unsurprisingly it disrupts his game.
Bit of a strawman here. Don't think I've read a single person suggest that we should build a team around Maddison.
Fact is that he's our most creatively inclined player, one of our best passers + progressers of the ball, and our top goalscorer. Shouldn't be sitting on the bench, especially not to fulfil some dunderheaded point Ange may be trying to make.

At this point I'm giving a load of our players a free pass including Maddison because they're not being coached properly, this team hasn't been setup properly to get the best out of players, a lot of them have checked out.
It's clear we need another clear out and certain players need to leave this club but I don't think you can afford to get rid of Madders, pretty sure peak De Bruyne would get lost in this team playing this way.

He is still very good. Just need to stay healthy to be consistent. But KDB prime was on another level.
