You can't be World Class if you're not playing. If he plays and then shows that he is, then no problem. I think his best days as player were with us, don't ever think he has repeated his form or shown the same ability for them as he did us, apart from one amazing run in Copa del Rey, I'm not talking about winning trophies BTW but individual performances.

I can't help but feel if that was Onomah playing instead, many would be creaming themselves, especially after the double nutmeg. Considering Onomah compilations have been made and praised with alot less.

So people wanking over him because he played without fear, what about the other debutants? Thought they were far more effective, in particular Maguire who was excellent, Gomez played well too both also played without fear. He gave the ball away following the nutmeg, so not all that great really.

Abraham was terrible, looked like a League One player. It wasn't Maguire's debut and Gomez looked fine, as most centre backs with limitations should in a back three.
No doubt RLC got MOTM because it was his debut, the same reason KWP got MOTM on his Spurs debut (despite Atsu tearing him apart a few times and generally wasting most of his crosses) and others get MOTM on their debuts, mostly youngsters.
Who's wanking over him? He has always been a highly rated talent who never got his chance. He should never have been called up to the England squad, but he did and he looked fine against Germany in a friendly. Calm down.
Which goes back to what the fuck did he do? Regardless of MOTM, what did he do that everyone is wanking over?
(Harder to play in a back three than in a four, need to be better on the ball and more tactically astute both with and without the ball).
Passed the ball forward? Took players on? Generally looked positive in his play? Something most English midfielders the last 5 years HAVEN'T done? Winks literally done "nothing" against Lithuania and we all wanked over him too, because it's a start. I think playing in a back three can mask many players weaknesses, case in point Dier being shocking when playing in a back four but looking like Maldini when playing in a back three. But that's just my opinion.
He made few forward passes, his two take-on's he lost the ball, one of those occasions he got it back by luck. Look I don't want to pure doom on the lad, it's not why I made my post, in fact I'm glad he was selected as it's providing competition for all places on the pitch, just simply think he didn't do anything that great other than the two passes I mentioned.
Winks is by far the more technical footballer, better brain too. Take a look at the video again and look at RLC's body position and compare it to winks, massive difference between the two, RLC never on the half-turn always flat-on when receiving the ball.
