I might love Nubel even more after he just super kicked this dude for no reason.
The biggest signing we could make in January. I'd said many times why we should go for him, but I have to say I do like what he did yesterday. There's a clear "Don't fuck with me" vibe about him that makes strikers wary when facing him.

Guy is on the verge of true greatness.

I hope the leaving Vertonghen in a back 3 is a phase until we have a proper DM that can drop down between the CDs. I miss the days of in form Rose and Walker bombing up the sides. But it'll probably take a couple of windows. I'd have a look at Borges at Genk as left back

Saw someone posting on The Guardian report on our game suggesting we sign Sam Cosgrove from Aberdeen, 23 yr old striker, scored 19 in 25 games.

Anyone know anything about him?

Was at Everton Academy until about 16 before joining Wigan Academy, several loans before joining Carlisle (1 goal in about 9 games) before going to Aberdeen and getting 20 or so goals in first season, rinse and repeat in 2nd season.

Big problem would be the step up from Scottish Premiership in terms of quality of both opposition and playing with better players.

If Spurs took a punt on him, best idea could be to loan him to a Chamionship side for a season to see how he did there (Championship is arguably about 6th best league in Europe after PL, Germany, Spain, France) - look at someone like Garry Hooper scoring 60 odd goals in 90 odd games for Celtic but 'just about ok' for Norwich (flipping between PL and Championship) and Sheffield Wednesday. Or might be better to see him join a Championship club (several interested apparently) and then see ? Gone are the days of Steve Archibald (Aberdeen to Spurs) I think !

45 goals in 69 games in total since arriving at Aberdeen is not bad. My friends who follow the SPFL rates him as a good big man forward (he's almost 7ft tall).

But the question is of course if he can handle the step up in leagues.

He's 6 feet 2 inches and he has scored 19 in 25 this season, 8 in his first 5 games, then a few against dross.

To be avoided until he goes to a lower level club and proves himself.

The good Doctor ring any bells?

There is where scouting comes in to play.

Is he good enough or isn't he? Pay a smaller prices now or pay a N'dombele premium after proving himself with a lower level club.

Jose has managed to claw what looked like a write off of a season at best to one we are back in contention for

We desperately need a couple of clever signings in January to take advantage of this

Despite the upturn of late this squad is no where near good enough to consistently deliver results over the next 4 months

15 year old Leon King of Rangers being linked on the cheap :levywhoa:

I'll save you all the hassle, don't bother going on YouTube to check him out, all you'll get are videos of Simba and Mufasa
You can't avoid YouTube, it's the circle of life.

It's not that.

I can't think of one player who has come direct from the Scottish league to a big team in the EPL and been a success. The successful players generally come down, join a championship or league one side, adapt and build up.

Had we signed McGinn straight from Hibs, I doubt he would be the player he is today. He was given the time and leeway to get himself up to speed and managed to do so, ditto Robertson, ditto Fraser. Then there's Alan Hutton, Barry Ferguson, John Alain Boumsong and Carlos Cuellar. All massively rated, all let downs.

Even the Tugays and Amorusos, players with years upon years of experience prior to the SPL never really set the heather on fire. Apart from few games.

I assume you meant to include Serie A in that list. Portugués Primeira Liga is better than the Championship. The Eredivisie is also better.
