Was at Everton Academy until about 16 before joining Wigan Academy, several loans before joining Carlisle (1 goal in about 9 games) before going to Aberdeen and getting 20 or so goals in first season, rinse and repeat in 2nd season.
Big problem would be the step up from Scottish Premiership in terms of quality of both opposition and playing with better players.
If Spurs took a punt on him, best idea could be to loan him to a Chamionship side for a season to see how he did there (Championship is arguably about 6th best league in Europe after PL, Germany, Spain, France) - look at someone like Garry Hooper scoring 60 odd goals in 90 odd games for Celtic but 'just about ok' for Norwich (flipping between PL and Championship) and Sheffield Wednesday. Or might be better to see him join a Championship club (several interested apparently) and then see ? Gone are the days of Steve Archibald (Aberdeen to Spurs) I think !
