The fact that we signed Bergwijn for a similar amount, yet we were thinking of loaning Piatek or maybe buying him for a lower sum, clearly means we didn't rate him highly enough.
Probably more likely Piatek would have had far less resale value than Bergwijn.
Even though an out and out striker to cover Kane and offer competition for his place is a more pressing priority .
We may as well at least be honest with ourselves.

Never really fancied piatek that much but still annoying if he was Jose’s top target and he’s glong else where.

Really do hope we have been working on other options, back in for Willian Jose?

I was never convinced by the 4 Piatek Youtube videos I watched so fuck him.

I was however, confident we would get a striker in but less so now. I don't see how Giroud would work - it makes absolutely no sense for Chelsea.

Maybe we have something like another Bergwijn bubbling under but you would think it would have emerged by now with just two days to go.

It's been a great window so far but I think we're a little short if we don't get that elusive frontman in.

I am fine with the club not ponying up the cash to buy Piatek if they don't believe in the player long term. However, we absolutely must bring a striker in.
Agree - this will only be an issue if another striker doesn't come in. Outside of Haaland, who is on the train to Madrid or Barca via Salzburg and Dortmund, the striker options this window have been slim pickings.

It really seems like the club is unwilling to commit to any backup striker long term based on who is available. If there was a Bergwjin type player (22/23 years old, promising/good upside, encouraging underlying numbers) at striker, I think it would be different as it would be a nice option between Kane (26) and Parrott (18). But I imagine we would have heard something like that by now.
