Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

(Rose), Lloris, Lamela, Davies, Dier, Dele, Toby, Son, Kane, Winks have all been at the club 5 years +.
Thats the squad lets see what the team looks like. Son, Kane Loris Toby, their longevity is not a problem. The problem was the lack of quality players added to the group from. 2015 onwards. You want loyalty and cohesion is Mane's or Hendersons tenure at Liverpool a problem no because Alison VVD Robertson were added. The poster is focused on the wrong end of the Telescope.

Jose Mourinho leaves three Tottenham stars out of Europa League squad but one gets back in - football.london

Doherty is NOT HG for EL squad - complication is probably caused by loan to Hibernian when u21 (a club NOT affiliated to The FA) and accordingly time spent there does not count to the 3 years before age of 21 to become HG for EL.
If Doherty's loan in Scotland makes him non-HG in Europe then it should also make him non-HG for the EPL, too. But he is HG in the EPL.

What is a Home-Grown Player?

A "Home-Grown Player" means a player who, irrespective of nationality or age, has been registered with any club affiliated to The Football Association or the Football Association of Wales for a period, continuous or not, of three entire seasons, or 36 months, before his 21st birthday (or the end of the season during which he turns 21).

Tottenham Hotspur

25 Squad players (*Home grown)

Alderweireld, Toby Albertine
Alli, Bamidele Jermaine*
Alves Morais, Carlos Vinicius
Aurier, Serge
Bale, Gareth Frank*
Bergwijn, Steven Charles
Davies, Benjamin Thomas*
Dier, Eric Jeremy Edgar
Doherty, Matthew James*

Not so.

UEFA are quite firm in distinguishing between the football associations of the home nations - otherwise we would not have separate National Teams for England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The FA/PL make their own rules which allow players who spent 3 years time at clubs registered at clubs affiliated to the FA and FAW to qualify as HG (of which each PL squad needs a minimum of 8 players to have a full squad of 25 players.

I so not know how exactly Doherty qualifies - it maybe that for international loans there is a central process which actually transfers the registration of the player (which is why spurs could not cancel the loan of Ryan Mason at Lorient when he wasn't played) whereas I understand the football associations of the home nations the loan is administered by a different process and the registration of the loanee is not transferred from his parent club. And it maybe that difference of 'administration' that allows PL to regard him as HG but not UEFA - but that is just my guess.

All I know is on PL sites Doherty is flagged as being HG but he does not meet the criteria as published by UEFA - and you will note that Alistair Gold (as close any journalist to Spurs as you can get changed his mind from Doherty being HG for EL to not being HG for EL, which I can only assume took place after a chat with Spurs.

But they're the home nations

The FIFA/UEFA position appears to be if the 'home' nations wish to field national teams they can do so as there are separate football associations.

FIFA/UEFA do not recognise the term 'Home Nations' in their definition of player eligibility - just whether clubs are affiliation to the same Football Association.

Which means FA of Wales or Scotland is as foreign as FA of France to a club affiliated to The FA as Spurs are.

We will have to sell to buy. If we get good offers for players like Davinson, Dele, Winks, Gazzaniga, Lucas etc then we can do something.
Should be able to raise at least 10 mil for all of those
Dele was only £5 mill but our other recent buys....

I was making a joke at the absurdity of it all. The idea that players plucked from a country halfway around the world and plopped in an academy as teens count "home grown" but players carrying a passport and playing for the national team are considered foreigners (Dier) or players who've spent their whole career under contract with an English club count as foreigners because they spent a loan spell in fucking Scotland (Doherty).
