RB Leipzig to open contract talks with Marcel Sabitzer​

Speaking about the future of Marcel Sabitzer, RB Leipzig sporting director Markus Krösche is not surprised that European clubs are interested in signing the Bundesliga club’s captain but stated they will be opening contract talks with the Austrian.

“His development has been super. It’s clear that other clubs have noticed this,” he told Bild. Speaking about a possible contract extension, Krösche added: “Both sides will deal with the issue more intensively in the spring.”

Sabitzer has been linked with José Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur since the summer with the Premier League side reportedly weighing up a move for the 26-year-old, who could take an interest in joining the London club despite having a contract until 2022.

Sabitzer has played 16 games in all competitions for RB Leipzig this season, scoring three and creating three – becoming an important player in Julian Nagelsmann’s system.

Heading in to the winter break, RB Leipzig find themselves in third, two points behind leaders Bayern Munich after drawing 0-0 to FC Köln on the final matchday weekend before the break.
 
The thing that worries me about all the rumours about Sabitzer in the last few days is they all seem to originate from the same Turkish journalist based in Isambul.

Would really like to see him replace Sissoko at Spurs, but why is all the info from a Turkish bloke about an Austrian playing in Germany .......and no obvious connection.

"Interest from Tottenham" is almost an obsession in Turkish footballing circles. I can't explain it myself.

Problem is, we have already invested heavily in Lo Celso. We didn't pay all that money for him to sit on the bench.

For 65m transfer and 200k a week, Ndombele should be the first name on the team sheet and should be the player dictating the pace and pulling the strings of the entire team. Right now, after 1.5 seasons he still cannot complete 90 minutes and the coach won't trust him to play in a box to box role. He is nowhere near the Dembele/Modric player we needed; and he doesn't have the passing range as a number 10.

As the 'best coach in the world' Mourinho and his team should be improving these players.

Id rather have Lo Celso to come in and rely on than Winks or Sissoko.

Couldn't agree more, last season Pogba was out for 4 to 5 months, and Ndombele could of claimed the second midfielder spot alongside kante in the french national team, but decided to do x in spite of the manager, as allegiance to pogba.

The summer 2020, as part of mending the relationship, tells jose he see's himself as a 10, so jose indulges him.

This season Ndombele has had a few ok performances. [deshamps won't play him as a 10]

If jose gets another midfielder in to partner PEH, in this window, Ndombele, will after 18 months find himself on the bench for club and country.

The fact jose has scarificed dele [who has need this kick up the backside for 2 years plus], to entertain ndombele and we are only 6 points of the top, with no play maker is a little, just a little commendable, [yes' performance sucks], but as mentioned, Ndombele, should of been our 'regista', setting the tempo of the team.

If Ndombele want's to know what his future could be, just look at Pogba now a bench player for man u, with 18 months left on his contract, 40 to 50 mill accuried in the bank from wages, plus a 90 mill outlay, 29 if he see's his contract out, a return on investment of 40 to 50 mill for his club, if sold in this window or summer, and people question why jose values hard work over talent and levy, shopping at poundland instead of M&S.

Let's ignore the situation, because it would be a fruitless, and chances are we will disagree, but what is ndombele'e expectation.

I would say partner PEH, be the brains in the team, set the tempo, with le celso, kane, even dele ahead of him.
Whether you team is setup as 4231 or 433
 
I'm confident about Sabitzer. Too much smoke for there not to be a fire.

And he'd really be a good signing. Capable of playing DM, so back up for Hojbjerg, can play as an 8 so could also partner him but can also play wide right too.

16 goals and 11 assists last season when playing slightly more advanced.

And he was the best player on the park by a mile when we played them in the CL last season.
 
As soon as the door opens, get deals done.. don’t want the entire month of January to drag on without a signing.
