Who is out there that could improve this side ?

very difficult to find players that are better than what we have
Joking aside, which decent player/s are going to want to join, knowing they'll be surrounded by at least a fair chunk of the current crop and that Conte could be off in 18 months? Especially as, just a few games into his tenure, he's already using disconcerting phrases like, "I'm happy to stay, but..."

Not getting this love in for Skipp at all. He was crap tonight. We go way overboard with our own. O Hara, Mason, Winks, Skipp. Put it this way. How many other sides in the top half of the prem would he start for?
I won't write him off just yet, had rave reviews whilst at Norwich and I recall seeing some very decent looking highlight clips. However that was at a lower level, and so far for us this season he looks worryingly like Mark Noble minus the goal scoring exploits...

Still far from our biggest concern.

He has the right attitude at least, no-one's going to excel surrounded by shitness and that includes him.

Mark Noble's what????

Played: 554
Score: 62
Penalties: 39.
Non-Pen: 23

= 1 non-pen goal every 24 games!

Come on, don't take pens out otherwise you might as well knock Kane's tally down by a good amount, and Penandes at Utd is seen as a goalscoring midfielder despite most of his coming from the spot.

In which case, including pens, I'd be both delighted and surprised 540 Skipp appearances from now if he has contributed 62 goals in a Spurs shirt, as he hasn't shown any kind of knack for it as yet.

Also, factor in that Noble is one of Spam's record scorers ever isn't he? Might not look prolific on paper but he's had more of a fist at goalscoring than most of their attackers have during his time.

Not our penalty taker either..... Of course this matters. This is crazy talk.

LOL.... You make Noble sound like Frank Lampard (who for the record scored 200 non-pen goals in his career + 190 assists).

Meanwhile, this is Skipp's first proper EPL season.... Give the kid a break.

Fucking hell, give it a rest with the hyperbole would you, not everything needs to be a topic of confrontation.

Has Mark Noble scored goals? Yes
Has Skipp? No
Did I suggest Noble was even prolific? No
Did I write Skipp off? No
Did I say Skipp will never score goals? No

If you want to argue against my statement, the only part that is open to debate right now is whether the two are in fact similar in playing style, because it's a stone cold fact that Noble has scored goals on a semi-consistent basis, whilst Skipp has 1 career goal in 71 club appearances.

Even if you want to ignore penalty goals, I have a hard time on current evidence seeing a future where Oliver Skipp has netted 23 goals in a Spurs shirt.

...You use the phrase "Goal scoring exploits of Mark Noble" (Mark Noble, FFS!!!) yet you accuse me of hyperbole???

On the flipside you needn't be so butt-hurt that I've challenged the basis for your criticism of one of our players...... (Such debate constitutes a large proportion of the content on this forum. I'd hope you'd have become accustomed to that by now..... If not perhaps stick to the comedy, cos you're pretty good at that.)

A goal or two every season is really no tally worth using as a yard-stick,.... On that basis; so long as he proves to be a good player for us I couldn't care if he scored such a nominal amount of goals or not consiering the position he plays.

Who the fuck cares if Skipp scores goals? He’s the 7th attacker in this formation. Mark noble is 34. Skipp just turned 21. Noble took pens for a decade (which account for over 60% of his goals) and you are acting like it makes him a goal scorer.

Did Dembele score 23 goals? Guess he’s no mark noble.

Worst comparison ever.

Thought that was clear sarcasm tbf, if you think I'm trying to big up Mark Noble then it's just crossed wires, I'm not, it was intended as a disappointing assessment of Skipp so far rather than high praise for Noble.

And it wasn't a criticism of Skipp for not scoring goals either, that's not what he's there for, just my opinion that I haven't seen anything particularly special from his performances so far, seems a bit agricultural.

I don't feel I've been overly scathing of Skipp, I'm open to seeing more from him, and he certainly seemed to be more impressive for Norwich, but it remains to be seen whether he can eventually replicate that form at a higher level.
