I was referring to Sports Direct - I don't know where you got Newcastle Brown Ale from in my post, who I believe sponsored Newcastle some time ago. Leciester has King Power and also got in trouble with FFP in the Championship. I am not here to defend City but whether you like it or not, they have a sustainable business model. Leicester does not. That is all I am saying. Citeh's income is not a lie at all. A part of that is sponsorship. Citeh would be able to find sponsorship at the same or higher level currently.

Sorry, because I was talking about City's shirt sponsor I assumed you were talking about Newcastles.
I guess the big difference here, is that Cashley wasn't ploughing billions into Newcastle o make them win nor was he claiming the Sports Direct Arena deal was making them loads of money. If anything, he probably did that to advertise that rather than make Newcastle any money.

You seem to have forgotten that, much like the Chavs, it has taken a whole lot of sportswashing to get them to this point even if they are now 'sustainable' on paper.

Also similar to the racists, just cos their punishments have usually been suspended, doesn't mean they've not been cheating.

Griezmann is a weird one here....

I mean.. I think it would be awful idea, as he is also player whose career is in downward spiral and I don't think he ever comes even close to the level he had before leaving Atleti (and not even his last season but ones before that). He certainly has some quality. But would we really need 30yo demanding player who has never played in EPL before?

If we'd take a chance on him, I guess it would have to be on absurdly favourable conditions.
Either 18 month loan with max salary of 175 k per week. Or purchase of max 20 mil with 150 k per week salary. I don't see either of them happening. But I'd really prefer someone for the future, not someone whose best days are behind him.

Yes, the difference is what the fair market value is for any deal. Also, in CIteh's case, they failed to comply with UEFA re disclosure around the initial deal.

I should be clear I think Citeh did cheat for overpaying sponsorship -to put it very simply. It was more to do with disguising capital payments but they got off in CAS because the claim by UEFA was out of time. Also, they undoubtedly deliberately hid information from UEFA (another breach and something CAS was critical for Citeh over) and were generally non-compliant. Of course, this has helped them reach the situation they are in today. See CAS decision below:

"The management of [MCFC] was well aware that the payments … made by [a third party on behalf of ADUG] were made as equity funding, not as payments for the sponsor on account of genuine sponsorship liabilities.”

Leicester

My point was Leicester has not reached that situation - despite cheating - and will not reach that situation in the foreseeable future barring a miracle.

Newcastle

From what I understand from a quick google search Frasers group PLC was not making particularly large payments to Newcastle for the sponsorship of Sports Direct. So there was a situation where an owner was deliberately paying below market value. Some ways (but not all!) that is ethically worse.

This is just one of those nonsense stories that come out around the start of every window. I wouldn't waste time on it to be honest.

Celebrating keeping Winks and Dier is celebrating mediocrity which is on par with that ENIC have delivered at Spurs for 20 years now - ie 0 success. Some fans deserve no less!
Whos celebrating? Do we sell 8 players and get in 2 or 3?? How would that work with games coming thick and fast. As much as we dont think them players are good enough we need them as part of the squad to use. Simple as that.
We need to be realistic here. Theyll hopefully phased out

P

Don’t complain later then when we get injuries to our first team and have to rely on Winks to lead us our title challenge or cup charge mid season.

We’ve complained for years about lack of depth, Winks passing forward for two games isn’t squad depth all of a sudden
I love to know where you think people said how great winks is all of a sudden.
All sane people here know hes not the answer but can take their head out of the sand long enough to say hes played a bit BETTER than normal. How does that mean they think hes pirlo and keane rolled into 1 🤔

imagine a football fan convinced that he knows moreabout a player than a coach as conte
I hope you’ve never had an opinion that differs to any manager we’ve ever had then, as all of them are a lot more qualified than you.

May as well close down this whole forum, nobody on here has more experience than any player or manager, so what’s the point giving an opinion.

We also have to balance home grown and foreign players in thinking about transfers.

If e.g. Doherty, Rodon and Dele were sold I think it would just mean game time for players like Jack Clarke and Dane Scarlett unless the outgoings were replaced by home grown players. Either that or we flog a 20 man squad to death.
