Transfers January 2022 - Transfer Window

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

My experience has been that England has its own wonderful cheeses, and also good French cheese, Camembert, Brie, etc available in abundance and utilize it wonderfully in its normal cuisine.

Any other kind of cheese is a total disaster over there, especially anything that’s meant to be gooey/stringy.

Consequently, all pizza and Mexican food I’ve ever tried over there has been awful.

But of course, English pub breakfasts, chip shops and takeaway Indian is all you need over there, why try anything else?
I’ve not managed to find any really Mexican food in London at all. It upsets me greatly.

The Serie A stars, 22, have been identified by Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici as top targets ahead of the January window.

A Spurs source has told Football Insider that Inter Milan’s De Vrij, 29, and Juventus’ De Ligt, 22, are regarded as “world class” by the manager and recruitment chief.

Conte wants De Vrij, his defensive leader at former club Inter, to be his “lieutenant” at the north Londoners.

Spurs recognise it will be difficult to agree a fee with the Serie A champions in the mid-season window.

But De Vrij is out of contract in the summer of 2023 and, as revealed by Football Insider earlier this month, he has told friends he is interested in a potential move to Spurs.

The priority of Conte and Paratici is to sign at least one elite centre-back in January.

But they have now come round to thinking that they really two from that bracket if the club are to clinch a top-four Premier League finish this season.

Conte has been unimpressed with the centre-backs he has inherited since he took over as manager, and is further hampered by the “serious” injury sustained by star man Cristian Romero.

Football Insider revealed Spurs’ interest in De Ligt last Saturday (20 November).

He has not been an unqualified success at Juventus, where Paratici was in charge of transfers when he joined from Ajax in the summer of 2019 for an initial fee of £67.5million.

That made him the most expensive defender signing in Serie A history and came amid a Europe-wide transfer battle that also included the likes of Man United and Barcelona.

De Ligt has made 14 appearances for Juve this season but been left out of the starting XI for five of their 13 Serie A matches.

When everyone is fit and available, the preferred centre-back partnership has often been skipper Giorgio Chiellini and his fellow Euro 2020 hero Leonardo Bonucci.

Is De Ligt actually any good?

I haven't watched him a great deal but he's never amazed. He reminds me of a young Dier (and I say that as someone who has a bit of a soft spot for our Portugeezer). Confident on the ball, likes a roam. But he's not the quickest and that's a fuck of a lot of money to spend on a CB.

Not that it will happen, of course.

My opinion also. He is not VVD mark two more Eric Dier 1.0

Thanks, I like some cheese reflection.

We have, as you say, the best mature cheddar, truckle cheese which is supreme. This is because it suits the milk types here perfectly, but is the A1 form of Beta-Casein, this is known more difficult to digest for many on earth (English Milk/Cheese, many other countries have this issue).

Europe tends more to have A2 milk, Ewes Milk/Goat Milk has this form of Casein (it's actually just one animo acid which differs):

The A1 and A2 variants of beta casein differ at amino acid position 67 with histidine (CAT) in A1 and proline (CCT) in A2 milk as a result of single nucleotide difference. This polymorphism leads to a key conformational change in the secondary structure of expressed β-casein protein.

This difference, IMO, is why our Cheeses are best for a certain type of cheese, yet useless for Mozzarella and those types. Even if we have Buffalo Mozzarella (there's a biodynamic one near here), it just doesn't work the same for Pizza, as you say, as the European raised Buffalo (or cow's pretend version).

The raw brie's and camombert's here are rich in K2, but usually way too 'old sock', so not worth the nutrient boost at the taste loss (guy de meau on steroids).

Tried to find good Raw Guernsey/Jersey Cheddar, but no avail (they are mostly A2).

The harder cheeses Italian mostly eat (or more regularly), are lactose free, often low or no A1 (percorino ewes A1 and lactose free, parmesan A2 *maybe* but lactose free).

Grew up raising cows!!!

This is music to Levy's ears.

Antonio Conte clarifies Romelu Lukaku is the only player he ever asked to sign and explains why Tottenham’ won’t spend a lot’ on new signings.

The Italian tactician spoke to SportWeek almost one month after he was appointed Tottenham coach.

“I’ve never been afraid of challenges,” Conte told Sportweek as quoted by Calciomercato.com.

“Having a 1 per cent chance to win is enough for me. I’ve never taken charge of teams that had won the year before. I have always rebuilt during my career.

“Juventus had finished seventh, Chelsea tenth, Inter fourth. I know it will take some patience this time. In Milan, I finished the job. It’s never easy to take over while the season is ongoing.”

During the same interview, which was released in full on Saturday, Conte also discussed Tottenham’s transfer strategies and how much the club will spend in the coming months with him in charge.

“I have a solid relationship with Fabio [Paratici], we worked together before and we speak the same language. And I don’t mean Italian.

“It makes me laugh when I hear that I make clubs spend a lot. I make them earn and not lose money.

“All the players that I’ve coached have gained value. [Romelu] Lukaku is the only player I ever asked to sign,” he continued.

Inter signed Lukaku in a €75m deal from Manchester United in 2019. The Belgian star left San Siro two years later, returning to Chelsea for €115m.

He scored 47 goals in 72 games across all competitions in a Nerazzurri shirt.

“I asked him based on the targets that we had, Inter directors came to my home telling me that they wanted to end Juventus’ hegemony and put Inter on top of the world by using their huge economic means,” Conte added.

“I thought Lukaku was crucial. Then he was sold for almost the double, same as Achraf Hakimi.

“I could talk about Barella, Bastoni or Lautaro, who was not a regular starter before I arrived.

“At Juventus, I had the pleasure to work with Barzagli, Bonucci and Chiellini who had never won a thing before I arrived. I earn what I’m worth, what I produce and what I win. The value of a professional is established by his history and the results he gets.”

Conte has signed an 18-month deal in North London and lost his first game in charge of the North Londoners on Thursday when Tottenham suffered a 2-1 loss against Mura.

Spurs collected four points in Conte’s first two Premier League games in charge.

I prefer Isak but I don’t think Sociedad will accept any less than about 70 million, think his release clause is 90 odd

Have been a fan of this kid for a while now, he’ll be an elite striker for the next ten years
ISak is very gifted but he doesn't impose himself enough, doesnt score enough, he is inconsistent. We are desperate for players to be consistently good.

I'm amazed they aren't all 300lbs over there. I sometimes watch Diners, Drive-ins and Drive-by's or whatever the fuck that show is called. The amount of calories in even their average meal is frightening. They layer everything with cheese, sauces, creams then it's all fried, barbecued in calorific marinades and sauces.

The portion sizes dwarf anything you see here. It's like every meal is about 1800 calories or they don't feel like it counts.
Highest obesity rate in the world....
