You could argue Newcastle have a better chance of top 4 next season than we do. Not certain, but its a valid point.
City and PSG weren't and aren't in relegation dog fights unlike Newcastle

They will need to at least look like they're complying with FFP. For them to get tip 4 they'd need to spend half a billion plus.

If you think Eriksen was in his prime in that final season your on fn drugs. He clearly didn't want to be there and his fn performances showed. We end up selling him for at least 40m less than he was worth only 12 months prior.
Maybe your happy watching our midfield play like shit cause that's exactly what our midfield plays like. It all started with the massive drop in standards with shitsoko and has carried on through glc peh and the biggest con artist of the lot Ndom5aside player. Selling players for top cash should allow you to bring in player for top cash. We sold eriksen for 17m - do you think that was good? Do you think his last season was kick ass?
You're the one the started chucking in assist and goal stats. They aren't "my" XA stats, they are simply the XA stats in the league for those players.
The point is, our midfield has lacked footballing qualities, the ability to resist pressure and transition the ball. And it's not exactly been a defensive payoff either.
Part of the problem is we don't have midfielders rounded enough to play Cm2 formats.
My point is if we used one of Hojbjerg or Skipp (preferably Skipp probably) as the 6, we could have players like Ndombele and Lo Celso as the lateral 8's - and we might actually move the ball through midfield much better.
