Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Ligue 1 expert Adam White believes that this season has been a “failure” for Tottenham Hotspur loanee Pape Matar Sarr, who has been playing for Metz in the French top-flight.

The midfielder was signed by Spurs for a fee of £14.6m in the summer but was immediately loaned back to Metz for the remainder of the campaign.

What’s the latest with Sarr?
The 19-year-old has emerged as a real talent during his time with the French club but he has somewhat struggled for minutes this season.

A Senegal international with four caps to his name, Sarr can play in a variety of midfield positions, including both defensive and attacking midfield.

But his minutes have not exactly been consistent during his time in Ligue 1 this term.

He has made 13 starts and has completed the 90 minutes just eight times in total.

Sarr has impressed, though, particularly in terms of the statistics that he boasts, per fbref.

He is in the top 20 per cent of midfielders in Europe’s top five leagues when it comes to non-penalty goals, total shots, and progressive carries.

He can move the ball forward well but White has found it difficult to watch him repeatedly consigned to the bench throughout the 2021/22 season.

What did White say?
Speaking to GiveMeSport, he said: "So at the moment, this season is a bit of a failure for both Sarr and for Tottenham because neither party is getting what they hoped. I don't know if there's a clause to recall him, maybe there is, but it's not something I know off the top of my head.

“At the moment, it wouldn't make much difference whether he was at Tottenham or at Metz, sitting on the bench at Tottenham is probably better than sitting on the bench at Metz, just for his development.”

Is Sarr good?
As his statistics show, he genuinely is an excellent option for Spurs and they will be hoping that he plays regular minutes at Metz throughout the remainder of the campaign.

If he is to come into the north London club at the end of the season and make an impact, he has to be getting minutes regularly in France.

Otherwise, Spurs may well be minded to loan him out again in the summer.

That would be a shame, because he is clearly an excellent option when it comes to moving the ball up the pitch.

He is the kind of player Spurs need and it is understandable that director of football Fabio Paratici allowed him to go back to Metz, even if it hasn’t quite worked as he would have liked.

Conte - 30 December 2021

"After only two weeks, I said we need to improve the quality of the squad," Conte said at a news conference on Thursday.

"For sure we need to improve the quality of the squad. I was sure after seven days, 10 days, two weeks about this. And then I make the evaluation who are the players I can count on and the players I can't count [on].

What a conflicted article:

......Yet makes no mention of why he isn't getting gametime.

Wrong

Everyone in world football knows Levy is the biggest cunt to work for and he's won in every other club - just like Jose. Failing here under Levy is the norm not the exception based on 20 years of evidence - wake up, please

How can you possibly support Levy in this?
How am I supporting Levy? Not at all. My disappointment with Levy has been documented plenty.
I am supporting Tottenham, Conte leaving now would leave us in the lurch.

Having signed his contract Conte has an obligation to us for its duration. He's a top professional so I expect he'll fulfill it. Leaving after a couple of months because he's not getting signings would be pathetic.

Conte has signed that contract knowing full well the recent history of the club, he really can't be that naive. If he's not happy, he can leave at the end of his contract.

“Ligue Un experts on the fighting cock say Sarr has been a success this season at Metz”

Faceless unknown expert’s are pretty easy to quote. He’s probably a gooner.

I think most chairman would not let someone walking out on Levy be a roadblock to employing him. I doubt he is anymore loved by his fellow chairman than he is by us fans
No doubt other Chairman think Levy is a wanker to do business with.
I'm not saying he won't work again, but if he's not mentally strong enough to ride out a difficult period with Spurs (I think he probably will get through it) it won't do his reputation any favours.

If Conte signed for us after Levy told him he would back him in transfer window with X money, then Levy doesn't back Conte should consider leaving, (unless Levy gives him good reason why moey not spent)

Just can’t see Benitez and Dele meshing. Dele’s best bet in my opinion is to go somewhere where the game is played at a slower pace, and to one of the better clubs there.
Nothing has changed from a finance perspective?

So one in one out it is then and shopping in the bargain basement for poorly scouted players. Well, that’s a relief!

:dierno:
😂 I think he’s more means that the money we’ve been told is available for this window, still is. But that did make me laugh.

I’ve tried to watch him when Metz have occasionally been on BT and he’s been picked. Definitely has a lot of nice points to him, he’s strong and fast and comfortable on the ball. But he’s been used in an array of positions, but of a utility midfielder/ attacker, as Metz have struggled, and that’s probably why he’s not really looked up to much other than a few glimpses. Screams all round CM, but actually good, to me if he gets the right coaching.

He was but then he wasn’t. Princely a result of him being a kid and then struggling at the wrong end of the table.

But it would also mean one step closer to Levy being booted out

He signed on the promise of money to spend in Jan - which has now proven to be another shameless cunt lie by Levy
Pretty sure Levy is going nowhere till the club is sold (and he has been tryingg to sell it it for years).

Re promises being broken, surely that’s only proven when it’s 01 February and we’ve signed nobody… which I accept is entirely possible based on history and current events too.

surely we should have shown intention and got a player in in week 1, then got a few out (maybe easier to got players out once we player in as other teams will come hurting a bargain and we can get them bidding price up)

Barca are apparently wanting to sell Memphis Depay - mainly to fit in Morata. But, if it's true that Barca wants to sell Depay I suspect (not claiming it is the case) there are some "underlying" reasons not directly associated with his on-field performances only.

Fucking hell

ENIC pulling all stops on the bot front!
How do you mean? Is saying Levy isn’t leaving unless we’re sold bot behaviour, or saying that judging the window at the end of the window is bot behaviour, or is accepting that we may well be disappointed and have reason to drive Enic bot behaviour?

Spoon feed me, I’m thick and don’t understand what I’m sure it’s actually a clear point steeped in erudition.

That would make sense, and 100% how I wish we did things, but if I just accepted that the window was going to be shit with 2.5 weeks left in it, what would be the point of posting in here? There’sa dedicated Enic thread where I can go to scream ‘fUcK ENic LEvY bALD CuNt MaGgOT!@&”!’

Am I doing it right?
