Transfers January 2022 - Transfer Window

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

“I think Tottenham have got a lot of irons in a lot of fires,” he told The Transfer Gossip Daily Podcast. “And so, Diaz is one of the players they like. But there are numerous, and I’m told there are perhaps some even ahead of him on their wishlist.”
He's referring to the burning of Gareth's clubs now they're having a clear out.

Because I've got 20+ years of experience of this cunt of a chairman and know how his mind works,

Correction: You've got 20 years of tabloid speculation and twitter drivel leading you to THINK you "know how his mind works".....

What we "know" re Traore/deal:

1. We allegedly bid 18m a couple of weeks ago.
2. Wolves allegedly dismissed any conversations had been had.
3. Barca allegedly had shown interested earlier in this window.
4. Traore had actually been quoted; speaking of returning to Barca this past summer.
5. Levy is time and time again been said to not want to spend money and would rather fuck around with loans.
6. .......Traore signs on loan for Barca.

FFS as little as a week ago we had peeps here arguing that Conte didn't even want Traore and he was being forced upon him....... Now we're letting Conte down and Levy's a cunt for not buying him.

The FACT is people "know" less than their preferred narrative will allow them to admit.

You are a man who loves the minutiae, I am a big picture man. Frankly I don't have the energy you seem to have for arguing over the "he said, she said" that's your bag and you own it.

The Big picture is that this keeps happening to Spurs and all roads lead to Levy.

Agree that we need a CM or 2, but we bypass our center midfield.

Son is the only one with elite-level pace but he's been run into the ground.

Lucas has elite-level acceleration.

Bergwijn is a tier-below pace-wise.
Sure, but I'd argue that the reason we bypass our midfield is because...we don't have a competent midfield. Winks has been much better under Conte, Skipp is definitely the most competent overall, and Hojbjerg has generally been poor with a few flashes of great play.

Tanguy and Lo Celso are just taking up space in the roster and aren't being selected as options in the team. Dele at least makes the bench but he isn't a pure midfielder. We are literally running on fumes and it is making us so one-dimensional that we are very easy for a reasonably good team to shut us down.

All those people saying "wait until the Jan window is closed before we get upset with Levy" are readying up the "It's the January transfer window, let's wait until after the summer window is closed before we get upset with Levy" narrative already.
Can we see if that happens first please? I'm sure some may do that, but not necessarily all - I've said all along that I'd judge this window at the end of this window, and that if we don't strengthen the squad this month - maybe 2 out and 2 regulars in (not just prospects) - then I'll consider that a failure of a window. Of course we all surely accept that every summer window is a far bigger event with far more realistic opportunities than Jan, but that doesn't mean this window can't be considered successful / unsuccessful in it's own somewhat-smaller-scoped right.

PS And to others suggesting that those who wanted to wait for the window to close will now say "we didn't want Traore anyway", I won't be saying that - I really wanted Traore, I'm gutted we're not going to get him, and I do agree that it looks likely that if we'd moved earlier and with a little bit more cash we might well have got him. (I say 'looks likely' because none of us really know, but the number of stories about Traore to Spurs makes it seem impossible that there wasn't interest / discussions). Having said that, if his heart wasn't in the move, then of course we're better off without him - but I can't help but feel if he'd signed 2 weeks ago and spent that time with Conte understanding how much he could improve him, he'd have been happy right now. :(

Brentford turn attentions to Lewis-Potter

Brentford are in talks with Hull over a deal for Keane Lewis-Potter after their pursuit of Brennan Johnson reached a stalemate.
Nottingham Forest have increased their valuation of Johnson above £20m; he has been excellent for the Championship side this season, and they want to keep him as they chase promotion.
Lewis Potter has remained high among the Bees targets and talks are now intensifying over a deal.
However, with new ownership at Hull, discussions are not as straightforward as they might be.

This is all true.

But Paratici did sign off on Royal, Gollini and Gil. None of which look good enough to play for us in the here and now. Some Gil fans will argue that he is young and might come good. But the point is last summer we lost Bale and Lamela. We needed to replace those players with quality not players that may come good in a few years.

This is my issue with Paratici, what signings he has put his name too so far are pretty pathetic.
I think all DoF's are in bed with agents...money. money and more money....
