Transfers January 2022 - Transfer Window

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Here is a bit about the Diaz deal. It clearly shows there were something "dirty" going on behind the scene...

REVEALED: Jurgen Klopp 'facetimed Luis Diaz in his hotel in Colombia to convince him to join Liverpool... and furious Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy considered REPORTING Reds transfer chiefs to John Henry' after missing out on signing the winger

  • Liverpool have signed Luis Diaz, 25, from Porto in a deal worth up to £50million
  • Tottenham believed that they had agreed to sign the Colombian last week
  • But the Reds snatched him from under Spurs' noses leaving Daniel Levy fuming
  • The Tottenham chairman threatened to report the behaviour of Liverpool staff
  • Jurgen Klopp facetimed Diaz and the pair got on well, with a deal then agreed
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy reportedly considered reporting the behaviour of Liverpool staff to the Reds’ owners after Spurs were beaten to the signing of Luis Diaz.

The Colombian winger completed a move to Anfield from Porto on Sunday morning in a deal worth up to £50million. He has signed a five-year contract on Merseyside.

It shows just how quickly things can move in the final few days of the transfer window, as Tottenham previously believed they had wrapped up a deal to sign Diaz.

According to the Telegraph, Spurs had agreed a €45million (£37.5million) deal with Porto last week, along with around €15million (£12.5million) of add-ons.

However, the report adds that Liverpool – who had asked to be informed of any move Tottenham made – acted quickly to match those figures and also agreed to pay €8million (£6.5million) by this coming Monday to sweeten the arrangement.

A FaceTime call between Diaz and Jurgen Klopp was then reportedly arranged – with the 25-year-old currently away on international duty with Colombia – and that the pair got on well.

By the end of Thursday, Diaz had informed Porto that Liverpool was his preferred destination and a deal was agreed with the Reds.

The Telegraph claim that upon hearing of the winger’s U-turn, Spurs chairman Levy tried desperately to regain the advantage in negotiations and also threatened to report Liverpool’s recruitment staff to the Reds’ owners John W Henry and Mike Gordon.

But he was unsuccessful on both counts. Not only had Diaz decided on an Anfield switch, but Henry and Gordon had no issues with the way Liverpool went about the deal.

Diaz is the second major signing that Tottenham have missed out on this month, after also seeing Barcelona snatch Wolves winger Adama Traore from under their noses.

The clock is now ticking for Levy and Antonio Conte to add to the Spurs squad ahead of Monday’s transfer deadline.

Do some research you fucking cretin.

These players are slated by their own fans. They are laughing at us and have upgraded their positions for considerably less than we are paying for them.

Back to sleep now, there's a good levy bitch.
The same fans were slating fucking Ronaldo, De Ligt and Dybala ffs. How do you know Zakaria is better than Bentancur mr.Bundesliga? Weren't we laughing at City when they paid 50M for Walker, saying "imagine how much he'd cost if he knew how to cross the fucking ball? Or the entire league at Liverpool when they got Van Dijk for 75M? Guess how that turned out? Who did they bring in to replace Kulusevski? Stop spouting nonsense. I'm anti-Levy , but give the lads a chance.

Uh they're delighted he's leaving them. They've thought these two players are shit for years, they haven't suddenly turned on them. They might be pissed off if they lost De Ligt, Chiesa, Dybala etc, but Bentancur and Kulusevski? They couldn't give two shits. They're delighted, we've just funded their Vlahovic transfer, happy days.

Unless he shines, Juve will be getting fuck all for him so can we drop this crap please?

What a selling club goes in to do with our dosh is just a newly concocted thing for melts to moan about......

Keep your head above the dregs, fella. 👍

Surely there must be a 6-month loanee who could give us something.
Who’s ready to hit the ground running? If they take 2 months to acclimatise that’s pointless for our season.

I don’t know if there’s a quality EPL right wing back who’s going to be allowed to leave on loan.

Let’s give Emerson royal more time to settle in and do a job and properly fix this in the summer.

Big big summer coming up for both outs and ins.

We had a Gentleman's agreement.

I'm sure Levy was just blustering and bullshitting like he always does, but my god does that make him look pathetic.

The player chose Liverpool, get the fuck over it.

Yep, everyone can cheryy-pick whatever suits them. No news here.

But does anyone know: Did Conte choose them? Or were they selected by Fab based on critieria set by Conte?

Let's agree to disagree and leave it.
I suspect it's actually somewhere in the middle. The idea Lamela was worth anymore than £10m with his history is wishful thinking.

What scares me, is if a little kid from Spain was valued at 20-30m what are we getting for 20m in Bentacour.

25m euro + Lamela (rated @ 10 euro).

FFS.... Can't believe you're still bickering about this.

Isn't the deal if we get top four we have to sign him? Or I have I misread. If so it's entirely possible he flops but we still have to buy. And we're buying Bentancur outright, are we not?

I'm not arsed what Juve do with the money, I'm just saying the idea Juve fans are annoyed they're leaving or shitting on them because of it is wrong. They are happy to be getting rid and have wanted these players gone for a while. They're not turning on them because they're exiting the club.

Look at the top comment on the video above. Lots of people see the similarities. He has a great finesse shot when he cuts in from the right. Doherty will enjoy playing with him as he will have lots of space on the overlap. When we're chasing matches, we could even switch Moura to RWB.

I'm excited about Kulusevski, he is 3 years younger than Luis Diaz and has been battle-hardened in Seria A.

Twenty one year old, incredible talent.

Answers one of the issues we have, pace, skill and a killer pass.
