I love Atalanta, what a great side, I watch them on the telly as much as poss. Also went to a couple games last season. Big fan of the area and got a few clients nearby. Also a big admirer of Gasperini...he's mustard.

Lookman has improved so much since his Everton & Fulham days. Highly rated in Italy, definitely a popular player for his skills and unless I'm mistaken he's always shown a positive attitude on & off the pitch.

I'd take him in a heartbeat...he & Mbeumo would transform our attack. Solanke would love playing next to them. But I really don't see the kid swapping Atalanta for Spurs...though he's a London boy.

fogueres fogueres Happy New Year to you, fratello mio. What you saying re Lookman?

I quite like the kid but Lookman spat his dummy out this summer because he wanted a move

He’s also been criticised by Gasparini for having a bad attitude previously when asked to come off the bench.

He would give us more than Werner for sure, but he isn’t top level either.

Jonathan David has 112 league goals in 222 games...82 goals in Ligue 1, which is known as a defense-first league.

Kolo Muani (two years older and much, much more expensive) has 65 in 225. And that's counting those he scored in the lower leagues in France.

No contest.

But yeah one is French so obviously it's sexier and gotta mean he's the better player.

Not quite a fair contest as RKM has played quite a lot as a wide forward and David pretty much always as a CF,

Also, at PSG you are always playing the deep block.

But as a CF, David probably is the better finisher. I just think RKM would play more in that BJ remit and be a lot better at it.

We're locked in with Nike for 8 more years. We do have a new chance to move on from AIA in a couple years, but outside of that not much moves the needle in terms of transfer spending.

We have an ever growing portfolio of smaller commercial partnerships which definitely help, but a -£400M is a big hole to plug.

Immaterial, as that's not how ENIC are going to operate. Joe's wallet is in a vault in the Bahamas being used as an anchor for his yacht. They're not going to strategically invest outside capital as a loss leader.
I know - but they need to seek some form of outside investment in that case and sell a small stake. We are going nowhere

There's no doubt we need an extra forward - but our options atm don't help :

1, Richarlison has been a sicknote for a lot of the the two and a half seasons he's been at Spurs with just one period where for abut 2 months he scored about 10 goals. Who will we see when he returns from injury in a week or two? In theory covers left wing and forward
2 Odobert, fit and doing well for 2 seasons before joining Spurs and still only 20, but injured for al but 2 games of the season. Tricky left and right winger
3 Werner is speedy, but his productivity this season is almost zero. Loan ends in summer, unless it can be ended before. Any incoming player takes, and will significantly upgrade his squad place
4 Son is ageing, and whilst a fantastic finisher, its clear to me he cannot start every game and probably playing once a week is enough - but still a force once a week..

So with 3 non performing players this season we have been reliant on Sollanke (hard working centre forward) and Johnson playing more as a support striker/inside right plus an ageing Son to score goals - and they have. Our only issue is we haven't been able to rotate them much so no surprise they look tired.

Youngsters Lankshear, Moore and now Yang have started less than 6 games between them, and probably wil start less than say 10 between them in 2nd half of the season - which is helpful but doesn't change the fact we need another forward for the here and now.

Richarlison doesn't want to move to anywhere where we might get back much of a fee - and I don't see that changing - which complicates things. If he comes back scoring lots of goals, we want to keep him, but if he comes back pretty ineffective ...... we may be stuck with him for the foreseeable future.

So ideally we need a versatile striker to cover all 3 forward positions - but probably good enough to be equal to or better than the existing players we have. I see him getting plenty of playing time, but which of the 3 forward positions he plays may change with form of the others in the short term.

I think my preference is David, but its all about player availability so if RKM is most easily available ..... we need to go with who is available.

Ideally its a loan with an option to buy - becoming an obligation if he scores more than say 12 goals in 2nd half of the season. That way we have a degree of protection if either cannot handle PL.

Ferguson isn’t an option. I’m refusing to believe that.

I’d genuinely prefer to give Lankshear minutes.

At this point Ferguson is headed towards Connor Wickham territory. Which is sad because he had the hype but if he’s not playing at Brighton why would he play here?
100% - Perhaps it’s just stupid pride but I refuse to believe that we’re a club that needs to take punts on Brighton rejects - We haven’t fallen that far ffs.

I agree, and think they've looked for someone to buy a minority stake. But I don't expect Joe will sell £400M of Spurs and plow it back into the club.

I'm honestly a little on the fence, because I don't think we have any real idea how good/bad this squad is. Ange just isn't fit for the job and the way we're playing with uber-naive philosophy and no real tactics just can't do well in this league.

I suspect we're better than some think, though still a ways off from seriously challenging. But I don't know if it requires £400M in players.

DM is the biggest gaping hole I see in this squad. We need 1 elite signing there, and to move Gray into the understudy role...which requires signing a RB and another CB. And a LW replacement for Son, but that might be Odobert and Moore...we don't know at this point.

Part of my problem with not sacking Ange in November is: other than the hope of the EL this season is fucked anyway, and persisting with Ange really stops us from credibly evaluating the rest of the squad and identifying the most important areas for investment.
