Transfers January Transfer Thread 24/25

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Well you're obviously doing something right

An audience with the upper echelons of the forum is not to be sneezed at

Fixxy responded to one of my posts once , I've never felt such a visceral reaction , the adrenaline coursing through my veins

I think I entered into a dream state for several hours

It' something I've never really been able to replicate since

Not for the want of trying though
I get you, my brother.

Knowing that I live rent-free in the Goat's head, it fills me with such immense pride & joy. Must be what winning the World Cup or sleeping with Blake Lively feels like. I hope it never goes away.

Couldn't care less about Muani tbh - mediocre flaky player who puts up shit numbers along with inconsistent performances from what I have seen.
Does however feel like a 'we tried' transfer saga. If we were really serious about him we prob could have beaten Juve to him and if he had the guts for the Premier league with a team like Spurs he would have chosen us - bullet dodged imho.

Not sure where that leaves us - probably done now unless another crap loan comes up.

I really wanted us to sign him as he offers something none of our existing wide forwards do… pace to burn and both creates and scores goals (looks at his form for France as opposed to PSG).

However, his wages are astronomical and to sign him with an obligation is a massive and potentially catastrophic risk if the loan both flopped and/or we don’t get some form of European football next season.

What I don’t get is how we’re now been fed two lines - a) that we tried to persuade him to join to the very last moments and b) we didn’t get him due to wages. Now, if we’re not prepared to meet his wage demands then why were we apparently trying to convince him to sign right through to today? It all sounds like a ‘we tried’ or ‘contrary to the press, we’ve known for some time we had no chance of signing him and have moved on’.

Because we aren’t sitting at the table and have no idea what happened? We aren’t sitting all jumping on click bait stuff as gospel.

Italy tax is a massive reduction on both France and UK so moving there changes everything for him (hence why Ronaldo went to Italy when it was dying).

We easily COULD (before people jump on me this is opinion) offered what he wanted, tried to persuade him and he chose a better climate, less pressure to work hard for money, and guaranteed CL and starting football going forward.

We offer, less money (because of Tax), you might play, you might have European football next year (which ultimately guess what, leads to more money, which is tax efficient in Italy).

He would have to be on something like 240 a week to clear what he clears in Italy on the same money as he’s on now

Maybe its a bullet dodged. Problem is any decent player is too expensive for us. Thats why we keep buying nobodies on low wages.

Subject to beneficial terms I would take him. EPL proven, plenty left in the tank, can play across the front 3 and he’s less of a risk than Muani. If he flops, you send him back to Utd but if he performs and subject to having an option to buy, you’re getting a very good player for what I would expect to be a reasonable fee. What we can’t do however, is stick with our current average options as you pretty much guarantee that our prospects for the second half of the season will be very limited.

or buy a once quality or potential to regain form but currently going through a prolonged rough patch (Rashford, Muani, Grealish etc). These players are a risk but if they perform we’re potentially getting a bargain. If they suck then we don’t sign them permanently. I would rather go for these sort of players than the cheap, poor alternatives who are no better than what we’ve already got.

He can only play well off the left. And then that's a rare purple patch of amazing in a normal dross season
