Absolutely heartbreaking news, Jimmy was my hero when I was growing up he was our greatest goal scorer, a gentleman and a legend.

My late Step-Father who introduced me to Spurs as a youngster, could not speak highly enough of Jimmy. Said he was the most naturally gifted footballer he ever saw on a Pitch.

If he were around today I know he would be shedding a tear.
 
This was my first and favourite Spurs video growing up. He was a huge part of the football culture of the 1980s through TV and other media. His love of the game and appreciation of us were always very clear. Loved his punditry and humour.

He was a legend to a generation of fans that weren't even born when he was playing. Myself included.

If that doesn't epitomise his status as a legend then I'm not sure what does. His influence and legacy is equal with Pele and Maradona.
 
RIP Jimmy , Had the privilege to see you play once and once only when you played for the mighty Barnet vs Kettering Town back in the late 70's .
And from what I can remember you ran them ragged even then .
