Sissoko was a much better footballer than Palinha. He is fucking awful. Any side that presses him and all he does is pass back, get caught out of position and have to tackle.

And Sissoko was shite.

This is an absolute honking take btw, only good thing that Sissoko could do is run, he had absolutely nothing on the ball, passing, shooting, first touch, nothing.

He was actually not awful when paired with anyone competent, and not having to do two men's jobs with winks beside him. Like I said. Absolutely dog shit.

Palinha plays us into trouble because when he plays, and we play against a team that presses, we have absolutely no control of a game or midfield, so the ball gets bypassed more often than not and the ball comes right back to us. Look at his stats on FB ref too. They unmask how fucking shite he is. He can tackle, having a goal scoring anomaly season doesn't change that either. With the ball, he is one of the bottom percentile players in Europe's top leagues. When he plays we leak more changes than when he doesn't, and he's an "elite" dm. So elite that Bayern binned him off as soon as they got him.

Dreadful player. Anyone that wants him permanently are the same idiots that told me how great Frank was until a few weeks ago and deserve to see the club where it is, because we sign crap like him.

Pish.

Pal gives you more on the ball and off it.

Christ I can imagine how shite we be and even worse if Sissoko was playing in THIS team under this manager, he was playing for a team aiming to win the league and still looked average.
No he fucking doesn't. He tackles. That's all, he's terrible, I just show you statistical proof that he offers basically zero on the ball.

I mean, this debate is scraping the bottom of the barrel. You're trying to goad me into saying "I think Sissoko was a good player", I don't, he was awful, but this guy is worse.

It's like asking if I'd rather HIV or Hep B.

Wins duels, wins possession, threat in the box.

Tell me what Sissoko gave you which is more than Palhinha, you literally said 'Sissoko was a much better footballer than Palhinha' much better yeah? Lmao you used an extreme to make a point yet you can't even back it up with anything substantial - show me statistical proof of your statement

I mean you're complaining about how dumb the debate but you're the one who just bumped it :porrohands:

Eye test for one. When he got the ball he could break lines. Palinha can't, and when we're pressed, we're boxed in with him because of his appalling lack of football ability.

He's having an anomaly goal scoring season, I don't buy into that, much like Solanke's.

I backed it up with stats that say he's one of the worst midfielders in Europe with the ball, which is my fucking proof. You have provided absolutely nothing but a puff opinion piece.

Anyway, like I've said 50 times, Sissoko was shite, but Palinha is worse.

Oh fuck off with this crap 😂 , break the lines of what? The guy couldn't pass and wheh he dribbled his close control was non existent.

I havent said Palhinha was good on the ball by the way I said he gives you more than Sissoko does. I asked you to back up your statement snd your rebuttal is 'eye test' brilliant.

Problem is you using such a poor example and crap extreme to get your point across, you kind of ruined your own argument.

Break lines means breaking structural lines on a pitch, so you get space in between, for instance, their midfield and defense, so you can play through. Fairly basic footballing concept. Welcome to school.

Oh you do? Are you going to back that up, or anything else you say with proof or stats like you ask of everyone else, or pretend to be the smartest guy in the room, while everyone laughs at you again?

I'm saying him being bad on the ball is bad for us, because we have no control over a game when he plays against any side that'll look at him. Gets on the ball Wayyyyyy less than most midfield players too, which also means we can't hold the ball. When we don't have the ball, the other team do. When they have the ball more than us, they create chances. We lack a midfield completely when he's on which means we play hoof ball, and lose it.

Is that enough..... or?

Since we’re apparently throwing phrases around without understanding them, let’s slow this right down.

We all know what “breaking lines” means. The issue isn’t the term — it’s that you still haven’t explained how Sissoko actually does it. So let me help you help yourself. Are you talking about:

running with the ball and physically dragging players out of position, or
running without the ball and disrupting defensive shape?

Because those are two very different things, and pretending they’re interchangeable doesn’t magically make your point stronger.

More importantly, how does either of those things quantify Sissoko being “much better” than Palhinha — on the ball or off it? You can’t just sprinkle in fashionable buzzwords and hope nobody asks for substance. If you’re going to make a definitive claim, the bare minimum expectation is that you explain it.

And while we’re at it, let’s address the backtracking. You were adamant that Sissoko is “much better”, then suddenly the comparison becomes “like choosing between HIV and Hep B”. So which is it? A clear superiority, or a desperate attempt to walk it back once you realised how ridiculous the original statement sounded?

Your third paragraph really does sum this up nicely. I didn’t ask for a breakdown of Palhinha’s game. I asked you — very specifically — how Sissoko was “much better” on the ball. Since then, you’ve done everything except answer that question, including a fair bit of interpretive dance around the point.
So let’s try again, nice and simple this time.

You’ve had plenty of words already. Now see if you can finally use a few of them to actually back up what you have fucking said.

By running through said lines and past their press, you break their structural line, this creating chances for overloads and gaining an attacking advantage. Very, very basic stuff.

Again, I've said he was better on the ball because when he had his head down, he could beat people with pace and strength. Pal, well, he can't.

I've said exactly what I've wanted like 5 times, maybe read it again or something. Don't know how to help you bud. Anyway, if you want players like Palinha hanging about, you deserve everything the club is serving us up right now. Sub standard crap, who will absolutely not be bought, for obvious reasons.

Nah

You’re taking one very specific action — straight-line ball carrying with pace — and stretching it into “being better on the ball”. That’s the entire issue. Running fast with your head down and barging past someone in transition is not the same thing as being good on the ball. It just means you’re physically hard to stop, those two things aren’t interchangeable, no matter how often you repeat it.

Very basic stuff.

Yes, Sissoko could occasionally drive past a press using pace and strength. Everyone accepts that. But that doesn’t make him “much better on the ball” in any meaningful sense. Ball quality is about touch, awareness, decision-making, passing under pressure and consistency — not just whether you can knock it past someone and win a foot race. You may as well said Usain Bolt is much better on the ball purely because he can run fast lol

Again very basic stuff.

What’s actually basic is understanding that a player breaking a line doesn’t outweigh limited technical security, poor passing reliability and zero ability to control a game. Sissoko’s carries were down to supreme physicality and pace, not evidence of superior ball quality.

As for the Palhinha bit — “well, he can’t” isn’t analysis, it’s just dismissive. Different role, different strengths. Palhinha being limited on the ball doesn’t magically turn Sissoko into a technically strong midfielder.

And then, predictably you strawman the final point like you always do  turning it into “if you like Palhinha you deserve how bad the club is”. That’s not what I have said, it’s just your typical over emotional response because your actual shitty argument isn’t holding up.

No one’s denying Sissoko was better at carrying the ball. The problem is pretending that equals being much better on the ball.
That leap still isn’t justified — and dressing it up with nonsense doesnt change that.
