According to Gab Marcotti, it was actually Poch who clashed with Mitchell.

I thought it was partly because Mitchell wanted to buy Batshuayi but levy refused to stump up the cash and/or Poch didn’t want him. Or it was that which played a part in it. They were correct it seems. I was never convinced by Mitchell, it always felt like he was just using the FM database to buy players!

Mitchell was already trying to buy Janssen, and had taken Poch to watch him. Rob Mackenzie confirmed this in the scout7 podcast.

I was also not convinced by Mitchell. His work elsewhere has been hit and miss, and he never stays very long in jobs.

Lange's signings for us are: Dominic Solanke, Archie Gray, Antonin Kinsky, Wilson Odobert, Lucas Bergvall, and Yang Min-Hyeok. Lange's primary remit from Levy was to buy young players who will increase in value and become star players in the future. Other than Solanke (Ange's main target at CF) , you cannot really judge these signings for another 3 years. But you can criticise Levy for not having a strategy to buy players that are better than the ones we had/have in the here and now.

This summer will be interesting as we need to sell before we buy, both for space in the squad, and because we apparently owe ~£280M in outstanding fees for current players. We also may have commitments / intentions to buy Tel and Danso (although it appears that the former is only an option and not an obligation).

With the likes of Vuskovic, Devine, Donley, Moore all potentially ready to contribute to the first team squad in 2025/26, if we do not have European football next year I can see us buying no-one (other than Danso), and letting a few leave (Bissouma, Romero, Richarlison, Davies, and dare I say it - Son).
