The uncomfortable part however is that the seeds of Poch's fabled team were sewn in large part by Levy, McDermott, Sherwood, Pleat & such (i.e. Hugo, Vert, Dembele, Walker, Rose, Dele + Kane, Mason, Bentaleb, Winks, Carrol. Arguments can be made that Lange has done well with what he's been able to do signing players that don't cost a fortune. Where it's broken down is us trying to sign players that either other clubs want and/or cost good money. That's where Levy has stepped into negotiations and look where that has got us.
People need to stop blaming the underlings and keep blaming the main person responsible for this shit show of a window and the ever changing "structure" that we have

Allegedly; Levy stepped back into the fray in Jan cos Lange made an arse of the Tel negotiations.

Levy also stepped in the Jan before to get the Porro deal over the line because a paid intermediary hit a brick wall with Sporting.

Has Lange been the one back at the negotiating table this summer? ....I have no idea. Has anyone seen/read anything solid to confirm either way?

Moreso; people should stop looking at things with bias and accept that things are rarely black n white and/or mutually exclusive.

Accepting that Levy is ultimately culpable as the main man that hires these guys doesn't exonerate highly paid underlings for not doing their job well.

If you'd just as happily take (eg) Hitchins than (eg) Paraticci cos you think it makes no difference then you're a fool..... Much like when people say the manager makes no difference "cuz Levy".... Care to put your theory to the test and spend a couple of years with Steve Bruce or some other relic?

We always hear Levy has stepped away but then it's always reported he's back in to negotiate deals.

He wouldn't need to pull those 2 massive PR stunts this summer if he had truly stepped away from the football side of things. if I were guessing he was actually expecting this summer to have an impressive spend in the window and wanted to get some positive PR ahead of time so he'd get the credit.

Not looking like the best summer for PR stunts anymore.

Didn't note any overt "stunt" element....

Didn't watch anything with Neville though.

You could just admit you were wrong. As if you didn't see or hear about the Levy feature with Neville...

If you want to put "stunt" in inverted commas, you can, but it only needs to be an unusual activity to get publicity in order to be classed as a stunt. Given how unusual it is for Levy to give interviews like that, both were stunts, and 2 in one summer is definitely part of a premeditated plan.

Probably they thought that we would have an impressive spend this summer and then we'd find out after that ENIC have "injected" some money into the team. Looks like that's gone to shit now, though.
 
I think all 3 of Lange Paratici and Levy are probably below average individually, each having flaws. But when you combine them together they create a monstrous Frankenstein of slow-moving indecision and awful deal-making. We clearly need to give someone the car keys, the whole transfer by committee with 3 heads of the hydra is costing us dearly.

Maybe Lange is bad but with Paratici holding his cock, Levy his balls, and Vinai lording over it all, he’s set up to fail.

We are an embarrassment
 
This feels a bit strange. Lange supposedly high on data but this window has just been us trying for the biggest names available. So unless we are bringing in 2-3 18 year olds we have never heard of, on top of our other business, then Lange would seem surplus to requirements

Lange’s job is to sign players. He has delivered on the data front with young players but he is also doing what every fan has been begging for - buying quality players who can contribute now.

Would you have a better impression of Lange if he replaced Kudus, Palhinha and Simons with three kids you’d never heard of ?? We’d still need a DoF

No that's not it. If Levy is a better negotiator than Lange then he could just have bought a copy of FIFA and done our business himself
