Management Johan Lange - Technical Director

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

But if it’s a data-game , as you say and I’m necessarily disagreeing; WHY pay this man so much for simply overseeing the process. There are machines and / or 15 year-old kids in their bedrooms who can do that .

It’s a genuine question btw .
Well it's not just about having access to the data - you need to look at the right data, think about the right profiles to complement the existing squad, off-field stuff like character, leadership, resilience, etc. Then you add in the whole networking, negotiating stuff, player pathways, signing players for the youth team, the woman's team - it's a huge job that requires a really broad skill-set.

Regardless of all the football man vs data nerd stuff, I think the core issue here is simply that Lange is really shit at the job. There are blokes who aren't traditional 'football men' who can do this type of job very well...he's just not one of them.

What happened to the good old days where the manager who is normally someone who has played professional football identifies players. Instead we now non entities who are not football people given top jobs in football ops. What does Lange know about the qualities of a prof footballer. We prbly can identify a player better than him.
I say you give the coach or manager and his team the roles of identifying players and then let the accountants sort the rest.

Job got too big for one person to do

And in theory a Dof offers a club greater continuity/security

That's about it

Looks like Bor. Dortmund fans are happy Kehl left their club....

So why are we going after him? "Oh, he's shit let's take him". What's the thinking here?

This club is being sabotaged like a childish Football Manager save. When we get relegated I half expect this board to offer a 50-year-old Lee Trundle a 100k per week deal over five years.

Every time I see this useless cnuts name at the top of the screen, this is my immediate thought

Edit - meant to be a sniper rifle picture in here that keeps vanishing.

Signing Dele was the beginning of the end for ENIC, imo. They've been obsessed with trying to replicate that signing ever since.
It was that whole team tbh. They just got ridiculously lucky and seemingly hit on every single player, and none of them were particularly expensive at the time, bar Lamela, who while probably wasn't worth the money piad, if we had Xl of him right now, we'd be nowhere near were we are.

Toby £11m
Jan £10m
Hugo £10m
Dembele £15m
Rose £1m
Walker £2m
Dier £4m
Eriksen £12m
Dele £5m
Son £22m
Kane £0
Wanyama £11m
Lamela £30m

All ballpark figures for the core of that team, even then, they were cheap and we'll never have a hit rate like that again, and they've chased the dragon since.

No way the board sack him or Vinai before relegation is confirmed. It's such a shit show at the minute that sacking either of them will make it look a lot worse to people on outside of club.

Imo both will be sacked but not before the end of season.

Incompetence of this level is something else.
