What no one ever stops and thinks about before "opining" is why certain decisions get made.

We don't know who is carrying niggling injuries. We don't know who is under the weather. We don't know who isn't right in the head. We don't know what happens off the pitch.

Calling the manager inept because he didn't pick a player you think should play is wrong if only because you don't know why that's happening.

This is always a huge point for me with many discussions on the forum. We're all guilty of it at times, but we only ever see part of the story and fill in the gaps ourselves. The reality is that none of us really knows what's going on behind the scenes so when the manager makes a decision we have to remember that he's got the full story to work from whereas we haven't.

I get the frustration from disappointing results, and there are times I just want us to go hell for leather, and I scratch my head over some decisions re team selection and substitutions. However, I accept that Jose does what he thinks is right for the team at that moment in time, and he won't always get it right. The players and Jose have taken collective responsibility when things don't go to plan, which is good to see. Calling him inept overall, IMO, is not right, we need to see where we are at the end of the season before making that judgement.

and what about judging his skills on the entirety of games?
why focus only on the ones YOU thought we could and should have won, while conveniently ignoring the ones that we did actually win?
why ignore the fact that he beat convincingly both teams currently at the top the table?
why ignore our current position in the table?
why ignore the fact that we are already in the LC final with a chance for silverware?

Since you have conveniently ignored any fact that didnt support your view, can we not then accuse you of not being objective?
can we not then say that you are biased and your saying Mourinho is inept is simply inaccurate?
can we not then question your credibility?

Thanks for a polite, friendly message Mrs p. Maybe inept is too strong a word, maybe I am frustrated but...it's been a year and I'm not sure how we have really improved. He seems to make similar mistakes to late era poch which got him sacked but he's had money, time and huge wages and seems unable or unwilling to make the changes.
If I was like that at my job? Inept. So I don't think it's incorrect to label him as such but maybe a bit strong? Like you say, we will see and I will be delighted to be proven wrong!

Ask the man utd fans if he was inept. I don't like his style or management and I've been consistent. I never claimed it's a fact but merely my opinion. I'm glad you disagree as it's be boring here otherwise!

We have lost 4 of our last 34 games. In what world is that similar to late era Poch? Baffling.

I dont need to ask fans when the historical facts are clear.

He won LC and EL in his first season, and finished 2nd in his second year. Things only went south when management didnt buy the players he wanted (but interestingly spent more to buy same players for Ole)

Still, since he has left, they have not won anything or reached the level of success they had with him. He is still their most successful manager post SAF.

People might not like his style of play (I personally dont like possession football) and thats fair enough, but misrepresenting stuff just to take a shot is unbecoming imo
