Manager Jose Mourinho

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

A fairly interesting read this, on first glance the comment about Levy desperate for Jose to succeed is, for me and my stance, like a knitting needle being rammed through my heart. However, the wording of this is nuanced with caveats relating to his relationship with the players being key.

I'm José in, but after the last couple of games I'm not quite as firm on that belief as I was. I would still prefer he succeeded with this squad, but if he has to go I won't be too upset.

The next couple of weeks will be important for the club I think.
José has to do better in his selections and formations, and the players have to do better on the field. I expect we'll struggle against Chelsea anyway with their new manager bounce so the WBA and Everton games are key for me. If we don't win both of those perhaps José needs to go then so that the replacement is in before the City, Europa League and West Ham games.

Hate to say it, but most Woolwich fans are '#JoseIn' at the moment. Karma's a bitch.

Agree with your points, btw. I'm definitely wavering. Yesterday was a kneejerk, but unless I see something positive soon, it's just feeling like a slow-mo car crash.

On the bright side, we're still in the hunt for 3 cups and Harry is going to be back sooner than feared.

I'll wait for a while, if he ends up winning us the league cup and the Europa cup, who will say he should be sacked?

I don't know the Portuguese League well enough to know if he would be welcome, and they obviously aren't really big clubs, but I wonder if he goes back there, wins a trophy in the lesser league and then says it wasn't him it was Spurs.

I know that he will blame his lack of winning on the club rather than take any responsibility for himself either way but going somewhere else and bagging an easy trophy might, in his little mind, "prove" that he still is a serial winner.
By the time he’s gone I won’t care what he’ll do or what he’ll win. Spurs fault or not, he couldn’t win a trophy here so I don’t give a shit about what he’d say.

If that’s the case of course.

That desperate to succeed here after wanting him for so long line is concerning.

I am also concerned that the players that voice would carry the most weight- Kane, Son, Lloris are guys that are likely not one to speak up and just be professional and sludge through. I also think some of the better players like Ndombele and PEH might also not speak up for different reasons.

The guys that are likely to most vocal- Dele, Aurier, Toby- will be passed on as jaded players with a bone to pick with the manager rather than have concerns taken seriously.

Now I could be totally wrong of course as this is all just guesses from the outside but when you see those comments about Levy, see how he talks about Jose in the doc, I worry that he will bend over backwards, and more to try and keep him here. I think he will do everything he can to shift the blame elsewhere and come up with any little thing to point to it being better than it is- ie League Cup final.

It is a little terrifying to think how long Levy could make this go on just by having his head in the sand about his favorite manager. He seems to be a proper Jose fanbooi and we have seen on here and twitter how little those guys have changed their tune or are willing to admit anything is Jose's fault.

The problem is Mourinho originally wanted to play a low block which was working for a while (November/start of December)

But then teams started stopping the service to Kane + Son and also Tottenham got worse at defending. They couldn't hold out for long periods of time and the individual errors crept in

Mourinho has tried to change this but we've got worse defensively and the attacking numbers haven't improved.

Its awful and not good enough from a manager who is on £15 million a year
It worked as you say, then Palace happened, and we needed to change and did nothing. That's more or less the season.

Where do we finish in the league and are we still playing this insipid football?

Because that would certainly affect my opinion.

Winning the League Cup and Europa but finishing outside the top 4 and playing the same style and I would still want him out. It would mean that his time here wasn't a failure, although not great either, but I would still want him gone.

He's so lucky there's no fans

Listen I'm all for success but what's the point of football if you don't actually want to watch your team every week because they are so boring.

For me it isn't just that they are boring, but boring by design and could be so much better.

Sure it would be tough to watch a team like Burnley week after week but at least with them you know it is how they have to play because of their talent and lack of resources. To play any other way they are getting killed and likely dropping to the Championship.

With us there is zero reason for us to play this shit style. We have the players that not only can play a much better style but would (and have been this year) be more successful playing it.

Watching guys like Kane, Son, Ndombele, GLC, Bergwijn, Reguilon, Toby have to play this drudge they all have great attacking ability makes it so much worse.

The fact that Jose actively holds this team back by choice, not necessity makes the awful football he forces on us that much worse.

Exactly its one of many things that makes me sad
These players can play beautiful football and yet they are getting out possessed , out shot , and out classed by too many opponents.
