Manager Jose Mourinho

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I thought your over-riding complaint was regarding us "not playing well" and a general lack of entertainment factor?

Dele was already deployed deep enough to argue we were actually playing 433; whilst collectively we defended rather well. Just my theory, but if we'd have (eg) taken Lucas off and played another more defensive minded player we'd have just invited even more pressure on ourselves and by reducing the number of potentially attacking players we'd have served to further challenge the ability of Son & Kane to link up (note: As it was, you cited this was already a key problem today).

Bearing the above in mind.... What exactly would you have done?

Right. I'd prefer us to play some entertaining football. I'd rather lose games when trying, instead of losing not trying.

The other thing I'm saying is, I'll go with the Mourinho train as long as it's on rails. A loss in a game like today will upset me.

So you were perfectly happy about the lack of subs at 1-1?

No you're right, we didn't. Guess there's nothing to be concerned about then. We played a blinder and there were never any doubt about the outcome.
I don’t think that football is the game for you. As Harry said ‘sometimes you just have to grind it out’.

Do you expect to win every game at a canter? And why do people like you always find something to be concerned about? He’s only been here 10 minutes.

I still believe our team to be strong enough to fight for positions 3-5, so even though Wolves have been on a great run of form, I'd still expect us beat them. I know the premiership is tough and there's no easy games, but I stil expect wins in most of them.

I'm concerned because we got lucky in a game where we didn't deserve anymore than a draw. I'm not thinking about his 10 minutes with us, but his time at United and some of the players he binned.

We didn't lose. We won!

You seem to be ricocheting from one complaint to another under the vague umbrella that it wasn't pretty.

A loss is always upsetting, but that's a bit fair-weather IMO.

Again, we won tho'. It panned out to our benefit...

I find it hard to question at this point, but as per my above explanation, I don't see there was an obvious change to make.... Esp. considering who was on the bench. Peak Dembele or similar might have helped, but if we had 'shut up shop' my guess is that we don't win a corner to get the late winner.

What if shutting up shop didn't work for reasons I explained?

Would you have rather 3 points or zero.

Hahahhaha - claims Winks must be a starter - now he’s not good enough to even come off the bench. Priceless

They haven't been above us all season by accident.

I think you need to wake up to the struggles we've been having. Struggles that led to our last manager being sacked... You have no right to expect wins right now and despite that, if you still do, you only have JM and our turnaround in form to thank for that.

You've moved the goalposts again.... What happened to entertainment and shutting up shop? ...Not that the two notions aren't philosophically opposed to begin with anyway.

Btw, you dodged my question before... Who would you have brought on and for whom?

Bearing in mind you wanted to both win and not lose... You're riding quite the tightrope here.

Thank you for a courteous and polite reply.

Yes we won, I'm very well aware. And because of that it doesn't seem like you'll for just a second imagine that we didn't, and then at the same time think about how we played. Only reason I've been thinking that way is because we almost didn't make it.

Yes a loss is always upsetting but for me it would be worse if it came after a 90 mins bus-parking.

Don't wanna comment on your line about 3 or zero points

Yes they've been above us all season and they've done well, that doesn't change my mind about which squad I think have the most talent.

Of course I should expect wins at this stage. There would always be a change of dynamics when shifting managers. Ole Gunnar had a nice run. The "new-manager-effect" should still be going strong.

I wanted one of the 4 attacking players (Kane, Dele, Son and Lucas) out, because they weren't connecting passes going on the break. Don't care who had come on out of Sess, Eriksen or Lo Celso

That's silly talk... I'm encouraging tactical analysis and canvasing you for your opinion. What else would you expect from me?

Yes a loss is always upsetting but for me it would be worse if it came after a 90 mins bus-parking.

Again... I point out the contradiction of wanting to both lock down a draw AND push for a win.

Which is telling as the scenario emphasises the polar conflict of your position here.

Yes they've been above us all season and they've done well, that doesn't change my mind about which squad I think have the most talent.

So you place no stock in the role and influence of a manager then? ...Just 'on-paper' squad quality?

Funny, cos you were hung up on substitutions as well as the broader approach of our new gaffa throughout much of this debate.

Of course I should expect wins at this stage. There would always be a change of dynamics when shifting managers. Ole Gunnar had a nice run. The "new-manager-effect" should still be going strong.

Nonsense. New manager bounce (tm) is not a given. More fool you for harbouring such dubious expectations. Curious further as you were just underplaying the importance of managerial influence.

I wanted one of the 4 attacking players (Kane, Dele, Son and Lucas) out, because they weren't connecting passes going on the break. Don't care who had come on out of Sess, Eriksen or Lo Celso

Yet you're not simultaneously addressing your previous desire to lock the draw down.

Not easy this managerial lark is it? :)

But, we did make it and we won the game, so what's the issue? I am confused?

You're concerned with how we played? What were your expectations? For us to smash them 5-0 like we did Burnley?

If you want to break it down you could say we beat a very good Wolves side who have been beaten very rarely in recent times and held them to mostly no shots on our goal, despite them having a lot of the ball, their goal came from a wonder strike and we could have and should have scored at least another goal.

All this whilst we have a midfield clearly in need of an upgrade and a manager that has only been here for less than 10 games.
