Manager Jose Mourinho

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I have no particular love of Roma and not really fussed about Jose being appointed but I do find it funny he's already coming out with his standard new club lines

"The incredible passion of the Roma fans convinced me to accept the job"

Sound familiar.

Good luck and good riddance.

Can’t wait. Will it be as fun as watching Spurs play under his exciting total football philosophy?!
It will be fun to watch his attempt to change his own perspective as a manager.

Mourinho is one of the greatest managers in History, and it really doesn't matter if you like his style of football. He made his name as a short term man, though; jumping from club to club and expected to win every time - and quickly.

At Roma, the expectations - and the objectives - will be very different.

Not a Jose apologist, he got plenty wrong here.

But watch him go there and win trophies, absolutely fucking nailed on.

At some point we just have to accept that at some clubs the bedrock is in place for success and others just aren't, until ENIC start aiming for success on the pitch we won't amount to jack shit, regardless of who is in charge.
Roma haven’t won a trophy since 2008 (the same month we last won one incidentally), they’re currently languishing in 7th in the Italian league and looked like a pub team at Old Trafford the other night.

They’ve got some American owners who make the Glazers in Manchester wildly popular.

Jose will be a huge success I’m sure dealing with all that.

they are all excited apart from the last poster who has clocked on to what is about to happen.

‘’Yup. And all his tricks are known by now. He'll have a little bit of fun with the media who don't bite and go with it like they did in England and then the honeymoon with be over and he'll say the owners never got him his players but he'll, at least, walk away with a lot of money. The pressers will have a bit more color at least.’’

Agree. It seems to me that he’s pretty used to having a shit team hovering around 7th and unpopular owners writing his cheques.

Jose will be fine.

The speed of this appointment suggests maybe more to the whole sage than meets the eye ? Was it all agreed a while ago and the sacking was all timed to enable this.
Could be some truth in what you say. What would be the advantage to Levy in delaying the sacking until the other day though?
It was a fantastic day to drop bad news. Perhaps that played its part ?

Take it with a grain of salt, but that Jamie Redknapp voice recording that got leaked around social media alluded to some kind of clause wherein the pay out was significantly less if he was sacked while outside the top 6, which we happened to be at that exact moment.

Combined with trying to bury/dilute the ESL news, it would be the perfect combo for Levy to pull.

It is very interesting how quickly this got sorted with Roma though and that it was apparently rumbling during his final days with us. Show he knew he was a dead man walking.

Where are you getting that from? He is ruined. He's ruined his legacy in the English game, Spain won't touch him. Italy was the only league where he still has some traction and he is bound to fuck up there too. No evidence to suggest otherwise.

He'll be back in Portugal after this

If I was Mourinho I would have just let us pay my wages for the next couple of years and protected my reputation by going on all the sports media and saying I'm a fantastic manager who made the mistake of accepting an impossible job. Instead he's going to be taking over worse teams every 18 months and ending up a joke, isn't he?
