They've got history... long running battle with a fast food kitchen fixture manufacturer on Paxton Road... appeal after appeal, delay after delay... compulsory purchase order was proving tricky. Then suddenly their premises go up in smoke

Who remembers Stars In Their Eyes... did you see the one where I beloved Chairman made an appearance. Tonight Matthew, I'm going to be Shaggy.

:levystare:

Lammy came in and he caught me red-handed
Creeping round the building next door
Picture this, had two cans of paraffin
Spilling on the warehouse floor
How could I forget that I had
needed an extra swan vesta
All this time I was thinking
Sixty thousand home to Leicester

How comes other clubs manage it?
Who else has done it? United sold sporting control of the club to INEOS for 25% - that's an incredibly unique proposition that I can't think of another example.

Other clubs are owned by "groups" (like Liverpool), but when you peek under the hood almost all of the shares are held by 1-3 individuals who hold all authority. Everyone else has nominal shares (like Lebron) which mostly exist to tie those individuals to the club for branding. And, as we publicly enjoyed watching at Woolwich, the 2-3 party "partnerships" generally devolve into public and distracting boardroom battles after a few years. Because, again, no one spends 8-9 figures on a football club to not call the shots.

There's already rumblings that Chelsea is coming apart at the seams. This United deal will probably similarly fall apart soon enough.

Palace have it too. John Textor being a minority shareholder. And he’s famously been trying to get out of that for ages with no success whatsoever. Mainly because you’d have to be mental to agree to such a position.

The Palace situation in particular looks like a quagmire.

There's what, 4-5 part owners aside from Textor? And all of them want to either get out to buy their own club, or buy up the rest.

It is lowkey kinda impressive that the chaos at boardroom level hasn't spread to the pitch.

Probably shows that players and managers don’t really care about, or are effected by, what happens above them. If they get their salary in the bank once a month, they’ll likely turn up and do the job.

Particularly at a club like Palace where you can showcase your abilities and get a move to a larger club.

Forest remaining games are Brentford (h), Palace (a), Leicester (h), West Ham (a), Chelsea (h). All very winnable... Brentford nothing to play for, Palace one eye on cup final, Leicester are just tragic, West Ham are shite and Chelsea have been meh all season apart from a little run during Nov/Dec. They have a game in hand on Chelsea who have some tough fixtures coming up... Liverpool, United, Newcastle and then Forest. Villa have Fulham (h), Bournemouth (a), us (h) and United (a) but are 3 points behind Forest having played a game more. I wager Forest will be playing Champions League next season.

Like I said, Forest will end up 7th.

Yeah it looks more likely that they will only get a buyout instead of this minority sale where he gets £100m for the hotel and £50m for new board members
I personally think that the likeliest outcome is that once Lewis croaks, Daniel is actually going to be the one that puts together a consortium to buy out Joe's family. I think that Levy enjoys being Tottenham chairman too much to just quietly disappear.

There is of course the hypothetical scenario here were new money backers behind Levy could lead to more spending. Like let's say that it is some Arabic oil fund propping him up. They may want him to spend more/be more ambitious. But it feels too much like a "cross that bridge when we get to it" scenario to properly speculate in.
