Levy In or Levy Out

Let me ask you this - would you rather spend 75m on 3 average players which would cost 50k in wages over 4 years plus agents fees etc, or spend that 75m on a single first-class player and 100k wages and one agent’s fee? Latter also works out cheaper in the long run.

For me it’s a no brainer and struggle to understand Levy’s ideas on this
I understand your point and yes, if squad depth wasn’t an issue, this would be great, but it often is an issue.

Like last summer, if we had our time again, would we have been better to buy say McGinn and Grealish than Tanguy? Would’ve cost around the same, but slightly higher wages.

The last time I truly remember us taking a load of money and spreading it out was when we sold Bale and got the seven. Was a good idea at the time as we had a squad that was small, just wasn’t the right players in many cases.

Spending a lot on a single player would put us in a situation where our backups would be youngsters from the U23s or very low quality. Harks back to the Madrid days of Zidanes and Pavons.

That’s very selective as we’ve also waisted millions on cheap punts. Anyhow - I steel feel my earlier point was relevant

I agree with that - but it's how Levy will look at it

the 'N'Wingers' are the prime example of "buying cheap and paying twice"

One thing I would say though is c. £25m fee and £25m wages for Piatek as a short term fix would be looking very expensive now - Parrott breaking through is far more likely to work long term

Spending big on one player that ends up flopping is a way bigger risk than a few cheap punts IMO. If the cheap punt ends up not doing well they are relatively more easy to move on compared to the guy who cost 60 mil + on his own and who is most likely on a longer deal.

Ideally our windows would be a mix of both. One, possibly 2 major signings each summer combined with a few cheaper buys that are seen as long term projects.

This past summer we basically only did major signings aside from Clarke. Both Tanguy and Gio came in for heavy fees even if Gio's was initially hidden as a loan. And Sessegnon also cost a pretty penny. So far only Gio can be judged as a success based on his first year where as Sessegnon has had some injury problems and Tanguy has had issues with injuries, fitness and general commitment.

What we need is an overhaul of our scouting system so that we are quicker on the uptake when it comes to identifying young, promising players that we can bring in and develop alongside a core of senior players.

Did you not believe me? Google it.
Pleat's employment as manager of Tottenham came to an end in October 1987 when he was dismissed due to disclosures about his private life. Newspaper revelations that Pleat had been cautioned by police three times for kerb-crawling created publicity that forced him to leave Spurs. Wikipedia.
I do believe you. But just like Clinton, his sexual proclivities didn't stop him from being an excellent manager. Maybe his car was stuck in 1st !

Not aimed at you but Spaniel who gave me a ha ha when I was being serious and certainly at the time was disappointed he was being sacked for non footballing reasons. Thought he did not believe it was true and was a joke.
Sorry. Didn't mean to offend you. The laugh was literally just a wry smile thinking of all the sexual shenanigans that have gone on throughout the sporting world. Kerb crawling is pretty low down on the forum list. How many NFL players have been accused of assault and rape. One of the Baltimore Ravens, Ray someone or either was mixed up in a murder somehow. Don't know the details but it does make kerb crawling seem incredibly petty.

I'm sure Levy would look at it this way

Our most valuable 3 players = Kane (free), Son (£22m), Alli (£5m) - £27m

Our biggest 3 signings = Ndombele (£55m), Sanchez (£42m), Sissoko (£30m) - £127m
Unfortunately a football team isn't a balance sheet. If he looks at it like a balance sheet, we're going to be without a trophy until he's gone. And God knows what state he'll leave the team in.

Dog fighting, murder, prostitution rings. The NFL has had way worse
