That Stoke vs Sheffield Utd ref is so bent, given the Blades absolutely everything. Clearly on the take and/or betting on his own games.

Devine's buy option is rumoured to be around £4.5m spread over 5 years plus add-ons. Preston's record transfer is £2.18m so imagine they would only go for him if they thought they could flip him in the future which you would think would be doable if he continues to play regularly

Preston have not paid much in transfer fees. However other clubs have

Most Expensive Signings Into the Championship (Recent Records): S
  1. Ipswich Town) ~£17.5m (2025) - Sindre Walle Egeli
  2. Burnley ~£16m (2024) - Mike Tressor
  3. Wolves £15.8m (2017) - Ruben Neves
  4. Middlesbrough)£15m (2017) - Britt Assombalonga
  5. Nottingham Forest ~£13m (2018) - Joao Carvalho
Fees for players from Championship to PL or other leagues have exceeded £40m on a number of occasions.

So I'd class it as a sacking offence by whoever negotiated that deal. unless the add ons are very large and carry on to with any transfers to other clubs for say 5 years.

If we counter offer him with a better deal than PNE’s , can he reject joining PNE?
