Ex-Spurs Player Lucas Moura

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

We are a team that lacks goals and creativity and he is an attacking player that provides none of that.

I guess we can point to being close to top 4 15 games into the season and pretend everything is great like people did last season when we were top of the table early on with clear warning signs.

If you really think that an attacking player with 3, 4 and now 1 goal in the PL the past 3 seasons and offers nothing else in terms of how he plays is good enough I guess you are fine with Spurs being mediocre.
He shut you up with that goal today.

He would be a fantastic squad player for a top 4/title contender in the EPL.

He's a fantastic starter for a top 6 contender.

That's the difference.

Great goal. We need more of that. He is great as a super sub and starter for early cup games and some Europe games. But we know enough about him at 29 to know he doesn't bring enough to the attack from the right side to justify being a starter if we're being true to our ambitions.

Nothing wrong with being an excellent supersub. In the NBA they have sixth man of the year awards. That's what Moura's role should be, a sixth man. Someone consistent to bring on in the 60th to terrorize tired legs, and to bring depth and rotation to a team competing on 4 fronts every season.

His strike on the ball for the goal was exquisite. However his first touch was poor and he nearly ran down a blind alley. so he nearly lost the ball twice before the strike. That detracts from it quite a bit.

Why couldn’t he be a starter for a top 4 team if the goals/finishing improves? I think he’s going to improve drastically under Conte. 10-12 PL goals a season should be possible with his talent

For one, I don't see that many goals. For two, the rest of his game lacks the intelligent on and off ball movement you need from a fluid right wing position.

Looking at the three true contenders in the EPL this season and they don't have a weak spot in their third. But Lucas would be a weak spot in those squads.

He did have that kind of output a couple seasons ago. Had 10 PL goals in his 1st full season with us.

Same amount of hair as Manu Ginóbili as well. And he's arguably the greatest sixth man of all time.

It's like people forget how unanchored Dembele was, seem very very similar to Lucas, capable of outstanding but mostly unproductive running/surges as he would invariably balls up the final ball/shot.

Not saying Moura's upside is anything like as profound as Dembele, but he could provide much more of the functional hole we current experience in transition, IMO, if places and set with angles to release to him with 4-5 yards space, moving the opposition at 45degrees etc.

Honestly agree he should yield 10-10 Goals/Assists, if utilised as I think Conte will.

Though he might tighten under the knowing pressure this is his moment to flourish or wilt, like any of them. Just suspect Lucas has the will, to suffer the CL Semi/Final and not once moan to the press or look to move, he loves it here.

He's still a "useless slaphead" apparently.

Was just rewatching some highlights - he should really have gotten an assist too with that chance where Kane lobs Krul and 99% of the time for a peak Kane it would have gone in.

It was a nicely weighted pass and, I dunno, it feels like make he's playing with his head up a little more under Conte. We'll see. Not picking out other players rather than running into defenders like a headless chicken has been a weakness previously.
