Different tactics and style of play.
Man City play into our hands by playing a high line and only having Rodri to sit. Allows son to run deep and Kane to come short. That combination is what Jose was doing.
Soton and Wolves game, we have the ball more and are asked to break teams down. With technically deficient players we can't do it.
Today all our clogger were either not in the pitch or asked just to hold their position and get it to Kane, Son and Kulusevski. This is exactly where Conte's tactics are most effective. Jose and Nuno also did the same.
In a possession game those managers and the players we have can't balance the tactics or the play on the pitch to break teams down. Only Poch a few seasons ago could do it because the idea was to have possession, but we had the players then to be able to execute it. We don't have that anymore hence why we play this counter attack style and it works against City because they are so naive defensively.
Burnley game we will go back to struggling because the onus is on us to break them down.
