Ah and there we see it again.

'Spend the money you bald bastard'
'Spend the money you bald bastard'
'Spend the money you bald bastard'
'Spend the money you bald bastard'
'Spend the money you bald bastard'
'Spend the money you bald bastard'

'No not there, you dickhead!'
The desperate twat is only attempting to sell megadome tickets to the bottoms up beer brigade.

This is going to go down badly ;
but I’ve just got to vent my anxiety
( in hope of reassurance/ being told
that I’m being unreasonably negative).

50 million for a 19 year old is madness
( unless we’re taking Messi / Maradona etc ) .

The kid comes to Spurs ( after a bit of
shilly-shallying with other clubs I don’t like to mention) . Clubs who weren’t able to commit to whatever his agent was asking for .

So ; we get him for 20 odd games; in order that he can audition; for us and OTHERS .

He turns out to be the second coming of George Best in English football; confirms his “ promise “ etc ; Daniel smiling from ear to ear ( as are we ) . We go for our option to buy ( for fifty mill ) .

But Mathys has to agree .

“ Other Clubs “ now realise his value/worth .

Given that Mathys ( and his agent) have the ultimate say in the matter ; what’s to stop him opting for MU
( or even worse ; pulling a Sulzeer ) ?

( And putting his decision down to
“ I only came because of the Manager”). Assuming Ange leaves (which isn’t unrealistic)

That’s what troubles me .

Reassurance greatly needed . Thank You in advance.
It's not an unreasonable worry, but the flip side to that is that he realises his upturn is down to where he is playing, he loves the setup, the stadium, his team mates and the fact that he's developing in a young and hungry team.

There are likely to be a lot of factors that may influence any decision he makes, including any advice he gets from his agent.

The fact of the matter is he hasn't kicked a ball for us at the moment, so worrying about hypotheticals is worrying for nothing.

Let tomorrow take care of itself.

Such a strange position to take.

If Tel absolutely tears it up to the point that other clubs want to come in and bid £50m + for him in the summer then that means he's been doing the business for us on the pitch. That means we would have a much better chance of finishing the season strong and winning one of these cups.

The club has been in the doldrums for most of the season and our insipid attack desperately needed a boost, with injuries and inconsistency galore. I genuinely struggle to think of a better attacker we could have brought in this window.

His talent will lift the group.

Appreciate your reply; I’ve got a tendency to over-think things and Why can’t we / The Club have nice things . Probably because of the last fifty plus years following.

Glad you could see where I was coming from; hope he bangs it !

He average's 1 goal every 5 games, against tired Bundesliga players.

Forgive me for the lack of cartwheels.

Couldn’t agree more ; but as I explained our supreme leader will only fork out 50 mill for a 19 year-old who’s truly exceptional. ( As any rational chairman would TBF )
The buy-with-option thing is infinitely better than a “ dry “ loan . Just as long as he opts to stay with us .

( He’s a 19 yr old wunderkid ; I don’t want us just to be the fluffer ( to use a , hopefully acceptable, phrase) .

Edit : just read the below post ; I’m
with him on this .

We all do mate. Well, the majority of us anyway.

Take your pleasure where you can. For good or ill, we will get what we will get. We have zero control over how the club operates, so fretting over it is really self defeating.

There are more than enough on here who seem to live to chew on their own bile Every. Single. Day. Then spit it out at everyone else.

Don't be one of them. Life's too short to live a life like that.

You always go on about how we should act like a big club, spend the money that we obviously have and now you're backing a guy who is arguing that £10m is too much to spend?

Why do we care about the 'business' side of it?

You always say we shouldn't. So £5m loan fee, £10m loan fee or £50m loan fee. Who cares?

Regardless of what pundits and commentators are saying now, Tel is a massively rated talent who could become an unbelievable player and the club, between all of them, have made it happen.

I don't give a shit how much it cost.

I can't wait to see him play.
I think you're replying to the wrong poster.
I haven't made any comment on the loan fee or potential transfer fee.
I hope he turns out to be a great player, helps us to a trophy and bangs in loads of goals.
My concern is that he does well for us but then gets a better offer from a Premier League rival and signs for them in the summer....in other words, he uses us a a stage to flash his knickers in the hope of attracting rival courtiers.

And you'd be the first to criticise if we didn't get anyone in.

Whatever his reasons for coming, whatever the terms of the deal - why are we bothered?

It seems the club have done all they can to get him here and try to make it easier for us to keep him here beyond the summer.

Whatever happens now, happens.
