Would anyone take Redknapp back now?

I'm not even sure he'd take himself after his comments about Poch on Saturday.

I have mixed feelings.

I'm nostalgic about Redknapp, and deep down I root for him. My heart says he'd make a great DoF type role, Baldini style, but my head says he'd also inject the poison back in that we've just got rid of - gossipy, media-love-in, shoot ourselves in the face, stuff.

I think he'd make a terrible DoF imagine the players he'd sign and salaries they'd be offered. He doesn't take the blame for it, but a lot of Portsmouth's failings were down to him. Same with QPR.

'Arry as Director of Football? lmfao.

...still, he'd be great value for a soundbite or 2 on deadline day.

This is one of my favourites, where clearly the Sky Sports journo was trolling 'Arry when he signed Krancjar, Disco Benny and Tom Carroll for QPR:

"....coming back to Carroll (Tom), clearly a few big name clubs were in there, including Ajax and Palace and Watford"

Brilliant. Big name clubs.

Kind of why I said Baldini, as he apparently did fuck all but shmooze

Its ironic because the only trolling I see from that clip is the banner on the right where Real Madrid have fucking stitched up The Scum.

42M for Ozil. Royaly Trolled.......thats the only deadline day joke here

We should have finished higher than 4th in 2012, not blaming Saha and Nelson for that, Redknapp has a lot to answer for post court case and England eyelash fluttering.
.

Yes, we should have finished 3rd, but surely we should have finished higher last season, especially after losing 5-1 to a 10 man Newcastle team that had already been relegated. It's strange how Poch lovers appear to forget that, but keep bringing up Redknapp's last season. That isn't to say that Poch hasn't done a half decent job, but the football watched under Redknapp was pure joy, and what's more Redknapp actually had a personality

No one brings up Redknapp's last season. No one even talks about Redknapp anymore. It's just you.

Here's what you are forgetting:

- Pochettino didn't disrupt our season with his own court cases for tax evasion
- Pochettino didn't refuse to sign a contract because he wanted an international job, then tell everyone how he would be the best for it, then start asking Brendan Rodgers to be his assistant for his new job he'd not been offered, then write newspaper columns about what he'd do in this new job he'd not been offered
- Pochettino didn't then demand a new contract after the "new job he'd not been offered" wasn't offered
- Pochettino didn't then unsettle the players by saying they'd all leave if he didn't get a new contract
- Pochettino didn't also slag off the board for having a contract that had a release clause after all the support they'd given him regarding the above
- Pochettino also didn't spend most nights as a Pundit/Columnist whilst all this was going on

and more importantly, Pochettino didn't miss out on CL football which, in turn, caused a chain of events that potentially lead to us losing Bale.

Don't get me wrong, I like Harry, but to say that Pochettino is in any way at fault for last season in the same way that Harry was in 2012 is ridiculous.

If you think Poch has no personality, you need to put the effort in. Plenty of videos about. Just because he's not hanging out the side of a Range Rover every 5 mins doesn't mean he has no personality.

In 10,000 years time...... extraterrestrials will land on the desolate waste ground that is N17 (Imagine it like now but with less traffic). They'll uncover an ancient artifact, a relic of a bygone age, the long discarded remains of a Tottenham fans last message to a dying earth, their chance to mark their legacy, to speak unto the ages.

And it will be some bell end moaning that we should have never sacked Redknapp.

It's true, under Redknapp we saw some of the best, and most stylish football ever seen at this club. But that was 1 in 10 games. "Spursy" was born in the Redknapp era.

Redknapp fucked us in the end though. Had the balls to take two months off on a whirlwind promotion tour for his England manager appointment, but then when he missed out and came back it wasn't with his tail tucked between his legs, it was to demand a new deal and a pay rise.

Fuck Redknapp. I loved him once, but he showed absolutely no respect to the club in the end, so why should I show any to him?

Despite all that, I still love what he did for us, and I wouldn't swap it for the world.

I think of him like an ex that cheated on us - will always love the bloke, look back fondly on the good times, but just find myself so disappointed that he threw away something that was good for us both.

We could bring up 2010-2011 as well, we'd had a successful CL campaign, however our league form again tailed off badly with us finishing 5th.

Pochettino has improved our results with every season he has been our coach. All this whilst engaging the fans and not telling us 'It's the best we're ever likely to see and to stop moaning.'

Somehow I doubt 'Arry would have put his arm around Kane and told him how to improve as a player.

Tottenham's Harry Kane: Mauricio Pochettino is 'ruthless if you cross him'

LONDON -- Harry Kane has offered an insight into Mauricio Pochettino's uncompromising style of leadership, telling ESPN FC that the Tottenham Hotspur manager is "ruthless if you cross him."

Pochettino has cared little for reputations or price tags in shaping Tottenham's squad from a group of expensively-assembled underachievers into serious contenders for the Premier League title.

Members of the current squad regularly say how much they enjoy playing for Pochettino and he is the biggest reason why 11 of them -- including Kane -- have signed new long-term contracts this season.

Some of the players who have not made it at the club, however, have found him distant and unrelenting -- something Kane has alluded to.

The striker also said the Argentine, who tends to be cautious and avoids controversy on camera, has two distinctive sides to his personality -- a cold calmness and a fiery passion.

"A lot of the time he's calm, but he's very passionate. If he feels the problem isn't the game but is about our attitude, he'll tell us we need to work harder or play harder," Kane told ESPN FC at an event held for the Lucozade Sport Made To Move campaign, aiming to get one million people moving by 2020. "He's emotional. And that's what we want -- we all feel the same. We all want to win, we've all got the same goal.

"He's got two sides to him. He's very respectful -- if you respect him, he'll show you respect back. If you work hard for him, he'll give you his time. But he's ruthless if you cross him. If you don't want to work for him and you don't want to be a team player, you won't be part of the team."

i

Harry Kane has worked with Mauricio Pochettino since the manager's arrival at Tottenham in 2014.
Kane added: "You can see how well we've progressed. We're one of the best teams in the league. Before [Pochettino arrived] we were playing for Champions League places, whereas now we're trying to win the title.

"The manager has done what needed to be done. He had faith in the young players, he had faith in players he could trust. It wasn't just about getting experience or players who had been there and done that.

"He had an idea in his mind of how he wanted to play -- with a high-press and a high work-rate -- and he knew he was going to get that from certain players.

"He brought some players in, he brought a few us up from the youth team and he got the balance spot on. We've got a very young team, a very strong team, we're hungry and we want to win. Hopefully we can go on and win some titles and trophies."

Kane, 23, is yet to cross Pochettino but it took time for him to become one of the manager's most trusted players from their first meeting at the beginning of preseason in 2014.

i

Craig Burley says it's a tall task for Tottenham to catch Chelsea despite keeping pace with a win over Middlesbrough.
Pochettino had joined the club from Southampton and Kane was a 19-year-old with six Premier League starts to his name, and behind Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado in the pecking order.

Kane knew immediately they would click, but Pochettino, who the striker regards as one of the best managers in the game, initially put his faith in experience, naming Adebayor as vice-captain and main striker with Soldado as back-up.

"When I first met him, I knew he was a respectful guy," Kane said. "Straight away I knew he was someone I could get on with but only if I was working hard, respecting him and being part of the team. That's what he wanted.

"He wanted players who would put in extra work for him and he'd show them love back. That's what we've got now. We've got a good relationship, great respect for one another and I think he's one of the best managers in the world -- not just tactically on the pitch but off the pitch as well, in the way he manages his players. He's a great manager to work under.

"I was young at the time -- Adebayor and Soldado were here and they were first choice. I was working hard to try and get that spot. It didn't work straight away, I had to wait my turn and I wasn't in squads at times. I went to ask him what I could do better and what I could do to get in the starting XI. He told me a few bits here and there, but mainly to keep working hard. I did, and I got my chance -- I managed to go from there."

:harryhmm:

No so sure about that now, are ya Harry?

Ok, this is pretty extreme but nothing like a good old myth to suit an agenda.
Hate Redknapp if you must, but respect the club.

Now we can knock all this "gung ho never beat the little clubs" crap shall we.

One of the things that excites me most about Pochettino is actually an area where I think there's a lot of confusion and disagreement over his methods.

For a while now one of the greatest criticisms that we've all read about him is that he's got one trick, and if that doesn't work he's out of ideas. In his third season, I think we've moved beyond that view, but the manner in which he's done it is of interest to me.

It's now three seasons into his reign, and each season we've seen a wildly different style or formation, with different key players. First season, ship out the old-guard veterans in favor of youth, and brutally test the loyalties and resolve of our "elite" players. Mason and Bentaleb in midfield, because Dembele hasn't adapted to the system and he looks on the way out.

Second season. Similar formation, different faces. Building from the back, with a new CB to partner Jan. Dembele flourishes. Eric Dier (?!) partners him in midfield in a true double-pivot. Dele Alli breaks loose. Lamela finds a new role, the defensive winger.

Third season. Injuries force a change in formation. 3-4-2-1/5-2-2-1 with Dier deputizing across the back line, Wanyama taking up his role in midfield. Dele moves up the field.

Three seasons, three different methods. Pochettino doesn't excessively tinker with the shape of the team in the short run, and doesn't pick the players and formation "for the opposition" like has been reported so often, he's practical in using what tools he has at his disposal and doesn't mess with a good thing, and pushes players to keep going regardless of form. But in the long run, he has an expansive view of the game and its formations, and isn't confined to one specific style, so long as it allows the team to press intensively.

Ok, this is pretty extreme...

You're a whizz with the ol' Cut'n'Paste ain'tcha?

Well desperate action needs to be taken!

Couldnt care less for Harry anymore. Im grateful for what he did and quite like the guy, and thats where it ends.

But Im not having Spurs drageed through the mud like that. Some of this talk I expect tp hear from gooners and scousers....."you were shit but lucky" etc

Not from our own
