Manager Mauricio Pochettino

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I agree with you all on his choice here, I think he could have been well-suited for a South American team, it hasn't harmed Bielsa doing this.

But, if you dig a little deeper perhaps this is a higher-profile role for him because the next World Cup 2026 is in North America, Canada and Mexico??? As a host nation, there's going to be a huge focus and interest in him and his team.

Maybe the fires are burning out with him, the result of some big salaried jobs and payouts along the way, he certainly doesn't need money anymore, so working part-time picking up more multi-million $ job with the chance to make himself a household name in NA during the World Cup and thus more media/sponsorship deals to be had is actually a smart step.
Low pressure for the US too. We just want to get out of the group stage

USAMNT is good for Poch and the USA. they have athletes so he will be a good fit and they will pay him really well.

Also means he's not hanging over our heads unemployed.

The more jobs and the more time that passes after chelsea, the closer I get to seeing him as Spurs again.

If my streams are anything to go by, then Messi gets ALL The sponsorship money anyway.
I don't even see many sponsorships with Messi in them.

Beckham probably had the most marketing benefit in the US, but even then he was well behind even a 2nd or 3rd tier NBA player.

It's hard to really express how little the US cares about football compared to the rest of the world. Women's tennis at the US Open averages more US viewers than the Premier League (whose US TV broadcasting deal is vastly overrated - no network has ever made a profit off those rights).

US soccer is always 1 generation away from it's big break. All those kids who were supposed to become obsessed with the sport based on WC 1994 are in their 40s now, and most of them couldn't care less.

Telling how uncomfortable Palmer looked without him. Poch had his drawbacks but his ability to truly free up his creative players was one of his best qualities. Possibly to the detriment of the overall team, but amazing for player development. One of the few managers who actually understands the meaning of the word ‘free’ and pros and cons that come with it.

Son, Kane, Eriksen, and Dele don’t develop into the same level of player without him.

Never a truer word spoken

Some fools blabber on about him not winning anything with these players at his disposal...completely overlooking the fact he developed and made these players what they became. And a bunch of others, too.

It was a remarkable achievement to get us as near to winning as he did. No other manager this century has come close

Palmer isn’t a touchline winger. He is a number 10 who like Foden can play as a false winger (winger with freedom to play inside). I think Chelsea played him poorly where as you say Poch didn’t.

Sadly I think chavs will be a decent side simply due to the likes of Lavia, Colwell, Neto etc being available. If they get Osimhen they will do well even if the manager fucks it. At some point throwing enough quality can work or at least work to an extent.

Jesus mate, Poch is a manager not a coach, it’s what he wanted, the *manager label* and Levy gave it to him. He has failed as a manager every fucking where he has went. Maybe a good coach, has done sweet fuck all as a manager, I don’t get the love that is still for him tbh, he left us. U say CL final, but didn’t have the balls to tell Kane to sit on the bench, that’s the fine lines of managing any team, in any walk of life.

Agreed but is the juice worth the squeeze? I don’t think they are gonna go bust anytime soon, but they have no ethos, it’s just spend spend spend and hope it works. At some point no mater how much they squeeze the juice won’t come. Much more respect for City and Liverpool even United than I will ever have for Chelsea.
