You might have answered your own question on that, young high energy players like Bentaleb are our future who can run all day and play game after game, can't imagine he will run out of steam any time soon. Not sure why we signed Fazio as while he is good he seems a bit at odds with what we are trying to do.
yeh true about fazio. i dont rate him anyway. yeh i know what your saying but i think it kind of shortens the amount of time we can have players. like we get 5 years out of them. but once there legs start to go then they are no good. it means a lot of turnover of players as not many can stay for years & years unles they are really young. also it means we are more limited & restricted in who we sign. anyone over 27 will seem weird as after a couple of years they wont probably be able to keep up with this demanding style.

You can't really judge his substitutions - who is he meant to bring on?....

My biggest issue with his subs is that he is not using the whole squad.

This is what he has so for this season, why cut off your nose to spite your face. Feel the isolating of Capoue, Vlad and Ade, and the under-use of Stambouli has been a big waste.

At the end of the day, we are playing some really crap players when a little more leeway and a back up formation that works could really help us at times.

Still not sold on Poch totally. I think he is tactically naive at times and makes a lot of poor substitutions. I also think he will never be able go build a good defence and that's his biggest downfall. There are certainly many positives and I hope he's given a couple more years to build a team I'm just not convinced he can take us that far. Huge up grade on AVB
I think his subs have been as limited as the options we have on the bench - if we're chasing a goal at the moment we have to bring on Soldado/Paulinho/etc who just haven't found their feet here.

We do seem to have a system in place, and if it doesn't work initially it can be a struggle, but we've been saved by so many late goals it must be more than luck in terms of the way the team presses and doesn't give up. The mental change in the squad over the past season has been amazing, all with a core of youth players.

To have Pochettino in charge and players like Kane, Mason & Bentaleb to have another seasons experience, it's the most optimistic I've felt about spurs in years, no matter where we finish at the end of the season.

Begining of this thread is amusing.

Poch knows exactly what he is doing with reagrd to the press. You get the media and fans on board and your life as a new manger is infinitely easier from the start.

A lesson that AVB would be wise to learn from. In a sport where a large number of supporters take their opinions directly from the column inches in The Sun or SportsMail - you try and take the media head on (two jobs in a row) and you are always going to lose.

Plus unlike Timmy Tracksuit and Churchill the Dog he doesn’t give the vultures any rope either. Stock responses to leading questions, doesn’t get wound up and always has an air of quiet superiority - “I don’t have to justify myself to you” (but without actually saying that).

The “supposed” language barrier helps. I don’t give a fuck whether anyone with a microphone or a tape recorder understands what the hell he’s on about, just as long as the players and his staff get the message, which apparently they do.

I suppose we will see what happens when the pressure is really on this time next season as we drop points at home to Bournemouth and the press want a scalp to sell papers and Talk Sport want seething supporters to pay £1 a minute.

But if he continues to grind out results, not take too many dickings off of the “big” teams and keeps the media on side, then he shouldn’t give Knee Jerk Daniel too many excuses to pull his itchy trigger finger. Then hopefully we may get to see what a manager with a vision can do with more than 24 months in charge of the team.

I guess then thank fuck our U21 and U18 have such good players. Sort of makes me think of Scott Parker and how his legs began to go, you might be right about it but I think the trend in general is for more running, we are just slightly ahead of the curve. It's like an arms race for fitness and we have gone full leather to get ahead even if that screws our older players.

My point is we don't really have any options that change a game bar Dembele - who is okay as a more defensive change.

I was just being silly, I know we don't have much on the bench unless the likes of Chadli start there in the first place. On a more serious note I don't want to see Paulinho playing for Spurs again, never seen such a bad player in lilywhite and yes I am including Jenas etc.

He'd be crazy to chuck Adebayor, Capoue and Kaboul back in for any meaningful game.........and all our recent games have been important

I love this bloke. I really do. Really bringing the team and the fans together. The club has a sense of togetherness. We're even taking positives from losses.

We could finish 10th for all I care this year - we ARE moving in the right direction, and we have the right man in charge.

I might be alone here, but I'd rather finish 6th every year with a cocktail of young, homegrown players mixed with hungry foreign imports than spend £500m with a filthy rich owner and win the league. I really would. City and Chelsea really are soulless shells of their former selves. I see no pride or honour in winning leagues or trophies in such a way. In fact, it's rather embarrassing for them when they underachieve in Europe, and lose to clubs like Stoke, such is their financial might. I couldn't imagine our fan base if we spent that kind of money and still didn't achieve results. WHL (or the new stadium) would be fucking poisonous with expectation.

Fuck them. We're Spurs. And we'll do it the fucking proper way.

Often thought about the implications of being bought out by a mega rich Arab oil state and the like.

The issue I see with Chavs and City is twofold, firstly rather than say spend £1 billion on the stadium/youth system/facilities and go for the long term approach of having amazing infrastructure and organically (if that's the right word) developing the team and fan base by growing it over 10 years or so they instead blow a load on lots of foreign imports who both raise expectations while distancing the club from the fans.

So you end up with lots of angry and disenchanted fans, hence the soulless feel of though’s places now. Not to mention the fact that City and Chavs still have a relatively small hardcore fan base compared to us or perhaps even Newcastle, most of their 'fans' these days appear to be very much of the plastic variety reflecting their small club origins. I mean the 2 Chelsea 'fans' I went too school with converted from supporting another team, one was United, I forget the other one.

Secondly the owners themselves by spending such cash put huge pressure on the club to achieve success and will spend even more money/and or sack managers in order to reach their goal making the whole process look like a 100M runner who has taken steroids to win the race.

The current approach of ENIC with the youth team, building good facilities and employing a manager with an attacking style who believes in young players, some of whom who actually support Spurs is the right way both from a fan point of view and a money point of view. This is the first time as a Spurs support in my entire life that I feel the club is good top to bottom and has the right long term plan.

Probably too late now for sure....should have been integrated earlier IMO

But what if the rumours about those particular players being distruptive are true, Poch may simply have no faith in them on or off the pitch. Also only got league games now, we should be able to play a full team every game.

I think with someone like Adebayor that Levy is so keen to see a return on his money that reintroducing him might make him reluctant to do a reasonable deal to get rid of him in the summer.

Everyone at the club seems to have amicably (well for everyone but those exiled) got to a position where they accept that some players are out of the door............it's unbelievably rare for all of the management, owners, fans and players to be on the same page in that respect.

I they are true, i would really appreciate it if Poch stopped saying they have a future here

Trouble is it's harder to sell someone you have publicly called disruptive

I hope sammy come end of August this is all history and he can get the players he wants finally and get rid of all the unwanted players

Everyone needs to think back to July when we had issues like "hope Jan comes back from World Cup" people were saying this season just to get back on wagon, that's what we have done, now THIS summer coming up is the one they can't mess up, as 16 players isn't enough at the moment, you and I are both Pro ENIC surely Daniel can see this is the chance now, not to spend huge money but to spend on who he wants, Baldini can be hung

Last summer was about keeping us in the game after the mess of that season and not letting our best players leave. This summer is more positive, it's about potentially taking us to the next level by clearing out the deadwood, bringing through a few more of our talented youth players to fill the holes and trying to get a few genuine top class players to help the likes of Kane out.

Even without spending we have everything in place to do well next year IMO, but this is the best time I have seen since the best squad we had during the Redknapp years to break the top 4 next season if we make the right calls.

Good point but Im not sure everyone is being disruptive, or if its just what Poch does if you are not in his plans.

I think some good players have been wasted to be honest.

It was only 5 months ago we were hailing the emergence of Capoue in the middle under Poch...

I dont think the middle of the season is when you trim the squad personally..

Yeah I said before i cant see him being a sensitive soul like AVB or Sherwood, I think literally he is picking the players he thinks fits his plans and formation better, literally, maybe Capoue's heads turned who knows, and thing is with Soldado, if he had even scored 25% of his bloody chances wouldnt be a problem, he's had them in every game so he fits in just diabolical finishing and maybe Ade has been unluckly not to be included more.

Ade has been here a long time and so much has happened to him in that time, like Lennon I think he needs a fresh start somewhere, to be top man somewhere again, I think thats where he does best

Can't wait for the summer

We all suspected that the 5-year contract he got to manage the club was a statement of stability by Levy, which is nice. It's impressive how quickly he's turned around the player-power that had arisen at Spurs thanks to the frequency of managerial changes we've had in the last few years.

You really get the feeling that Poch has set up a culture of "don't fuck with me, do what I say because I know best, but in return I'll love you/have got your back". It's no coincidence that we've been putting out the youngest PL squad of any team - these youngsters are:

a) more likely to buy into that mentality.
b) actually young enough to be one of Pochettino's sons!

Bit wary of the difficult-second-season syndrome that might happen - but the situation feels so much different to AVB's first year where our cracks were being papered over by Bale on a weekly basis.
Yes, Kane is prolfic, but the whole team seems to be progressing too.

Thank goodness people are suddenly realising on here pissing away 30-40-50m on people is not a solution, we just have to get the right people for right positions, as United have discovered and us 2 years ago, just buying quality doesn't mean anything.
