I consider Ronaldinho different era to Messi. There used to be a time when Ronaldinho was contesting the ballon d'Or against so many other elite players, 20 or more.

I'm not joking but the early 2000s had better players at every club than the later Messi and Ronaldo era when it was just two for a long time. Now there is a massive drop off and no real contenders with distinctive character.

You just have a lot of similar players now who are athletes, with less character. That is also why many considered Messi the best vs. Ronaldo, because if you took away his athleticism he was still a better baller. What he was doing was more unique and less robotic.

But I agree if you took away Ronaldinho's athleticism, he'd still outshine Messi on specific skills at his peak, which were worth the entrance fee alone.
