glad we got this guy and not that tapsoba. that tapsoba looks like hes got a bit of donkeyness abut him from youtube alone. VDV looked good at the weekend. solid left foot and good pace and good size!

Not an easy debut considering we’ve been crying out for a LCB for years now, and by all accounts he’s still quite raw. Thought he did quite well to be honest, his pace alone is something none of our other CBs come even close to
And he was suddenly paired with Sanchez rather than Romero after 15 minutes.

Seriously impressive stuff, but United on Saturday will really demonstrate how this defence will fair against counter attacks.

It’s not a joke.

Just watched it again and hes 7-8 yards away from the shot and had plenty of time to react as the shot lacked pace.

His angle is good as he’s on the far post when it’s struck, but he should not be lunging back towards the goal as far as he did unless he is sure he can clear it.

I played professional keeper and have seen tens of thousands of shots in my life and this is a poor defensive play that has OG written all over it. Guarantee vicario is letting him know it’s an easy save.

It’s not the end of the world; it’s something VdV can learn from and he played well the rest of the match.
I think you're a tough marker. He's not to know where the keeper is - can you imagine the headlines if he'd deliberately let it go and the keeper was out of position? Or a striker he hadn't tracked swoops in behind for a deflection? He's got to go for it.

I was a semi-pro keeper also and I would let them know all about it if they let an opponent shoot without trying to close. (There's nothing I hated more than my own defenders dancing about in front of me instead of closing down.)

"I don't know alot about him"

Clearly he didn't watch the game.

Few times he spun the striker when dealing with a through ball, there was a moment in our box where he was fouled but taken a difficult ball and moved it away from danger and in control, looked good on the ball, solid passing range and weight.

Sherwood just continues to make a twit of himself at every opportunity.

Once VdV becomes more confident with the pace of play and in a Spurs shirt, we'll see his best. Rediculous for anyone to have an exact view on any new player.

'Pundits' were even saying Haaland would struggle. Anyone with half a brain could see in that City side, it wasn't going to be the case.

Those two muppets are only really interested in their own self promotion and will say whatever they think will generate themselves more air time. 🙄
