Kit New Kit

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

It's pretty simple. The commercial value of the sponsorship / kit deal is worth more to the club than worrying that a few fans might be a bit miffed at a shit kit.

The AIA deal is worth 16m a year and i almost guarantee that they will have insisted on the logo being represented authentically, being a Chinese company where red is seen as very symbolic colour.

People will still buy the replica regardless.

You've missed the point I was making. I understand how the commercial side works and I understand where Levy's priorities lie. My point was about kits in general, and how under Levy's reign, there has been room for improvement i.e. poor shirt designs, late launches (like September), poor availability in some cases and yes, the irksome decision to have a big red sponsor of which many fans don't like.

I won't ever buy a replica shirt if it has a red sponsor.

I think that away one is fake. It's just a color swap of the home ... Seems very unlike UA.
The home one though is probably legit. Anyway, I think there'll be 4 kits for next season.

I don't understand the argument against Daniel Levy?

UA are in the top three worldwide sports brands. So having their name is good. UA of course were new to it all, hence why the first season they were unfortunately late with the kit. But that was only the first season which was in 2012. With the availability this is a tricky one indeed. Imagine you have a great season, the kit sells better than expected so you release the next with more produced, with the momentum and the optimism people want it. But the season doesn't pan out quite as well, you're left with a lot of kit. Then you get to a point where the season is coming to an end, optimism has faded. You're left with a lot and you have to make a loss. At the start of the third term with UA, there wasn't a huge amount of optimism, new coach no one was sure on. By time people believed a new one was due out so people waited and a lot of kit was left over. This season Tottenham Hotspur had a much better season, better than expected. So suddenly the shirts are the symbol of this and how you show your support. A lot of it sells out. Imagine that after one year of it being out, people want it and it's sold out and they're annoyed, it's not like it's been on general sale for a year already. That's the customers fault not Daniel Levy. Hang on UA could make more! Easy! Yes they take the minimum order which will leave thousands left over because people are just waiting for the next one anyway. As for sponsor, this is also tricky. Do teams want to compete with each other, they have to because there is so much money involved to keep up with the next. So they get a great deal. Unfortunately it's red. And? Fact: Tottenham Hotspur requested that the sponsor may consider being navy. Unfortunately the company pay big bucks so it's a no. As for shirt designs, Daniel hasn't got an easel where he designs them. Kits are big business for all clubs, if Tottenham Hotspur decided to put out the same kit that was blank every year. Some would sell for sure. But they would make a loss. We now live in a time where money talks. It can't be escaped. Trying to respect heritage is the best they can do in these times. Much like the new sports stadium being built, you could hold on to the current WHL but then you'd be left behind with everyone else expanding. Every decision must be done to better a business. If a red logo was the difference between progress and mediocrity. Which would you choose?

Welp, looks like this is the away kit...

... and for the first time, they're ruining that with the red sponsor too!

Bonus points for Under Armour doing literally nothing but changing the material colour...

Those guys are like "Kit design?..."

Wasn't a fan of the UA heritage sash kit. However it's grown on me over the season. My eldest boy has been harassing me to get one for him, I refused to pay north of £60 for top, shorts and socks. Can I get one in his size now? Can I fuck, club have been very clever limiting the number kits produced. It's certainly not heavily discounted in Sports Direct like a lot of other kits.

No, I get what you're saying. Why cant more thought go into the kits from the clubs point of view.

There's people who are bothered by kits and people who aren't. I'm not overly pleased by the red sponsor but nothing we've ever played has ever been that offensive for me to be concerned by it.

I wouldn't ever buy a replica kit, full stop. I suppose I might for my kids when they're old enough. Each to their own though.

Two things.

First, are you telling us that your kid is a full-kit wanker?

And second, there's this great site that's currently carrying the home kit at half-off. You may have heard of it; it's called tottenhamhotspur.com

He's 5! So yes he's a full kit wanker. Funny bollox

If you can find me his size on tottenhamhotspur.com then great. The day the kits went half price they suddenly sold out in minutes.

Will just try the club shop instead.

What's the opinion on retro stuff, toffs or score draw? Was going to go for the 60/61 shirt but was told after a couple of washes they go out of shape and being the home shirt the white doesn't stay white? Is this the case?

Numerous reports that we have inked a new kit deal with Nike for £30 million/season. I see this as great news. It injects funds into the team and opens the door to a simple white and blue kit.

Tottenham on brink of securing £30m-a-year suppliers' deal with Nike

i haven't seen any other posts or what not but nike? a simple blue and white kit? you haven't been paying attention to the horrible shit nike has been making lately.

but i hope you're right. that would be nice.

The WC '94 kits were worse.

i hated those kits* too!

I loved the 2014 kit, my rec team played in those.

i think nike are shit. i'm adidas over them. but Umbro would be my first choice... and no collars of any kind. all those collar kits look like pajamas.

*Just realized what I'd written when I quoted Benjamin Benjamin . The '94 kits were shit.

Here's a thought... (a stupid one, but still a thought neverthenonetheless)

...maybe
we're deliberately not designing a COMMEMORATIVE FINAL FAREWELL TO WHL KIT because we're not actually leaving WHL... merely expanding!

Unlike Arse/West Ham who actually pissed all over their proud history and sold their souls to 'up sticks' and move... we are actually making the decision to BUILD on our History by remaining on the Proud old stadium site.

I don't think the 'Commemorative Expansion of WHL Kit' would be that vastly different from the current one...
Perhaps we're not gonna make a big deal of it, simply 'cos there's no deal to be made big of!

A plain White/Navy retro '61 kit for the 2018/19 season would be fucking AMAZING THOUGH!

I don't think the club will do anything with the kit that looks backwards. The jumbotron films do that. Poch has re-iterised on a number of occasions about the need for the club to look forward and know they're a big club, act like a big club etc.

I reckon that MP's job title change to manager reflects just how much input he has into these sort of things.

Are you seriously saying he's helping to design the new kit...?
I'm surprised he has the time, what with having to juggle Stock Taking duties in the Club Shop with making sure the penalty spots are painted on correctly...
...and that's not even taking into account the West/East stand Cockerel polishing he has pencilled in for August!
