It is a real benefit, same as with Pochettino. However its not the biggest requisite for me on this one, IMHO in managing to the title (not least 4 times) FDB has gained experience beyond either so far. How to go the distance, how to grind out results, how to be pragmatic with playing style when losing players and still win...
This is, IMO, credit to excellent management - not the obvious contradiction you seem to think it is. Year on year their squad quality is reduced, while the likes of PSV and Feyenoord are genuinely very strong by comparison, and year on year they still win. IMHO it is because FDB is making the difference, not because their inherent quality puts them at the top.
As I said, barely a feature in the national squad, which I think is very telling for a team like Netherlands who traditionally have a lot of home based players.
I didnt, Gibbs is right. Was posting on the rush while at work so perhaps didnt phrase it properly.
Traditionally Ajax are equitable to the likes of Celtic/Rangers in Scotland, Barc/Madrid in Spain - head and shoulders above the others in the league. Better quality by a distance. "Powerhouse".
These days that simply isnt true, IMO. Of course they are up there, but there isnt the disparity. There are 3 other teams giving them very real competition for the league.
