As long as new boss gets us playing attacking possession football I'm happy. Last 4 years have been boring to watch. Think the worst was under Mourinho when we lost 1 nil at home to chelsea. Started to attack after 85 minutes. Eyesore football.

Not so sure about that.

I don't have much faith in the club to do business for top shelf players but Slot isn't a big name that wants to bring in established big names. This club has traditionally been a springboard club: Modric, Bale, Sheringham, Berbatov, Eriksen, Walker, Trippier

Not saying we need to get back to that where we sell our best players but all of those would have been the right profile for a manager like Slot when they arrived.

In terms of not being a good fit, I think that's oversimplifying things because he plays 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3. He also plays with inverted fullbacks from MF, a role that Porro looks like he could do well.

It's easy to look at a dysfunctional squad right now with zero clear rules defensively and say something like "Porro can't defend in a 4" but also forget that Amorim played him in a 4 without the ball and as an advanced wing back with the ball. That isn't a million miles away from what Slot does.

Spence has been playing in a 4 and 5 in France and did well. Emerson can play in a 4 as can Davies.

Udogie is a kid coming into the league for the first time. He doesn't need expectations on his shoulders and we have no idea what he might be here.

Probably Slot needs the same things most managers would need in this squad: Top class CBs and a more creative CM.

And a decent keeper

Yep.

And at a very basic level, his teams appear to thrive on a high press.

I have not seen our team do that consistently since Poch’s penultimate season. Jose and Conte not withstanding, out front 3 are pensioners.
I think this team can press better than it has shown in recent years. That really isn't the tactics they've been asked to play by Mourinho or Conte. Already the odd flicker of a disruptive press with Mason.

Sonny's good at it, Richy's great at it, Kane's not as bad as he's sometimes accused, and there are young legs that can fill in behind.

The area I really see us as deficient is in the nitty-gritty technical quality. Receive ball, deliver ball, one touch passing, moving and ball playing in rhythm with teammates. We're very limited there, and that's the core of the Pep-ball Slot philosophy.

There were a couple moments against Villa where Bissouma, Kulusevski and Porro suddenly formed a triangle that could move and pass in sync with each other and put defenders off balance and it was like, wow, that's a rare sight for sore eyes!

But we do have a bunch of good ballcarriers who are dangerous hoofing up the pitch in transition phases. It's going to be a much shorter, easier, and cleaner transition to a system built around that.
