He has won 2 South American Champions leagues in 4 years - it’s not just his domestic form
And what does that mean? How would any south American team do against European teams?
Assuming if he won those competitions, he would taken those teams to the club world cups, how did he do there?

All of this is absolutely irrelevant. Levy won't even know who Gallardo is. He has no idea about football and he has no one at the club to help.

The guy who just relegated Leicester is the best manager we can get? Utter bollox
Leicester relegated Leicester.
There's only ever been 2 teams that went down because of their coach and coach alone and that's West Ham and Newcastle. Both had teams that were better than bottom 3 and both went down because they stuck with idiots.

Leicesters team is below average at best and Rodgers should have gone last autumn. They're broke and selling off any decent players. They are so broke they couldn't afford to sack Rodgers.

My only issue with him is that a decent person probably should have resigned and accepted the club couldn't afford to pay the contracted amount. But technically speaking, they owed him. They probably promised him things at his last contract renewal that they went back on.

Rodgers is far from my first choice, but he's well above some others.

It's the way these things get done.

You can't have this person or that person, for various, spurious reasons.

But over here we have these options.

Rodgers is now; 'the best of the rest'.

Our mistake as supporters has been publicly stating a consensus view that a 'project' manager is what we need.

You have been led to that conclusion.

Win now owners is the real solution.

Put all your efforts into achieving this and give ENIC nothing.

NOTHING

Man Utd paid £2,5m in compensation for ten Haag....so I do agree £15m++ is a bit steep for Slot...
But, of course, they could have asked a few months ago what the compensation fee would be ;)

  • Arne Slot announced on Thursday he wouldn't be joining Tottenham this summer
  • The Feyenoord boss had recently emerged as a key managerial target for Spurs
  • The £15m compensation required to get him to the club startled senior figures

Tottenham chiefs were left stunned after being slapped with a £15million bill for managerial target Arne Slot just days after being told he could be released from Feyenoord for £6m.

This is all well and good, but we were 14th in November, getting battered left right and center. He didn't want to stay and turn it around. He wanted a break, he was done.
Now..... maybe an idea would have been to give him a break. Say to him "you're still young", have some time off, go and win something elsewhere" and come back in a few years when you're ready.

But that doesn't seem to have happened.
I can't think why

In my opinion , levy ground him down ,500 days of no transfers . It’s a never ending scenario of managers losing enthusiasm . Neglect by the board create it .

Poch must have felt let down & I don’t blame him one bit

Sporting paid 10m for Amorim in the Portuguese league.

These fees are becoming more and more normal, Levy and the board are just behind the times.

So you're saying his problems in the past were only because he worked in leagues with salary caps and no money for transfers, but he's OK for Spurs?
The only "big" club in the PL with salary caps and tight in the transfer market.
OK.
Congratulations on misunderstanding my post so completely.

In a salary capped league you can't buy success, so the key appointment tends to be the manager. Ange has proven himself again and again in leagues where you can't get much advantage via the cheque book.

Then, when he got the keys to Celtic, he took them overnight to new levels of success and playing style so has proven he can manage a decent player budget also.

As long as he has proper control and some guaranteed time he would work wonders for Spurs - a big club with lots of resources and a reputation for attractive football.

Which begs the question, why are we even pressing ahead with the manager search until we have the DoF in place?

Just another example of the chaos at the club, that appointment should be the absolute priority right now, and none of this looking at people currently employed who cannot start work until July BS, suss out who's available and choose the best out of them. Then let them get on with selecting the best manager and players for what we want to do.

The DoF is supposed to oversee the entire sporting side of things, we don't have one and yet our crack team of talent spotters are trotting around chatting up potential signings, and our chairman is headlessly running around trying to lock in a new manager and fucking up at every turn.

I'd be less concerned about this farce if at least there seemed to be any consistency amongst the candidates for both roles, yet each new name bears no similarity to the last, so it appears Levy doesn't even know what he wants to achieve, let alone have a clue how to achieve it.

Oh gawd.

It's happening again.

This is what I don't understand about the ENIC shaggers on here. This happens every single time with every target.
Not claiming you are one Pathfinder. Just referencing the article you linked.

If Slot was our number 1 target and the guy we identified as the saviour of THFC then you pay the £15m. It's that fucking simple.

When you identify a player if he is the right player and wants to be at the club you pay the fucking money.

You don't fuck about wasting time or going with your 2nd choice for the sake of £15m.

This is why these cunts need to get out of our club. Pronto.

Nobody is doubting Ange is a good coach.

He's the only coach to make it out of Australia to Europe with no real playing career.

The problem isn't him, it's the fact that he's clearly not the top choice and the club would be choosing him based on not wanting to pay up or provide the resources for their top choices.

If they are bringing Ange now, it's because they couldn't do what was required for Nagelsmann or Slot.

He'd be starting in an impossible situation from the start.

Does anyone believe without the patronage of Lewis he would still be in a job . Let’s just look at the post Poch era

3 manager hires that were a mixture of unsuccessful and / or toxic
Dodgy due diligence on DOF hire , if there even was any .
Appalling player recruitment
Appalling record on selling underperforming players
Pathetic record on youth
A series of PR disasters
A world class player we wasted and will likely leave
The club is now a laughing stock on almost all forms of media
A salary package that is reflective of massive success not failure
A team undoubtedly needing a refresh 5 years ago yet a number of players remain
Sacking our best manager since Burkinshaw

So should he still be in a job ?

Yep. Its not even £15m extra if we were happy to pay say £6m to £7m. So we've supposedly shat the bed on £8m difference and caused further ongoing chaos. No idea if Slot is worth it but you identify a target and get them not embarass yourself yet again.
