I do not want Kompany because people are over rating the job that he is doing in the Championship. The fact is even though the Burnley squad had massive overhaul there is still a core of players there that managed to stick it out in the prem for years and these players are better than most Championship players. This is why Norwich yo-yoed for so many years because their squad was too good for the championship and not good enough for the premier league. No One is saying to go get Daniel Farke because he had Norwich playing some unbelievable stuff in the championship.

Kompany will be found out next season he does not have enough experience in coaching to excel he has only coached for 3 years.
That’s what they said about Nagelsmann and look how he flourished. I’m not saying go get Kompany but the guy has had a successful career,is a leader and done magnificently in such a short space of time in coaching. You comparing him to Farke holds no substance. Go get any experienced manager and 100% he’s been sacked at some point and another set of fans will have derogatory comments about them. So what do you go for???? Experienced sacked numerous times managers or up and coming proven winners as a player and manager???
I’d take Kompany over most mentioned.

And also received massive financial backing from his board in the summer. Dwarfing the investment seen in our squad DESPITE not qualifying for the Champions League and having a smaller financial turnover and ffp wriggleroom than us.
The turn around in fortune lies squarely on the shoulders of the owners.
What? Did he? Didn't we spend more than them?

Richarlison, Romero, Bissouma must amount to about £130m surely, meanwhile who did they get of any note? Jesus and Zinchenko must make about £80m, who else? :/

Not intending to turn this into yet another 'board backing' conversation generally, but is the above actually correct? (Apologies if I've forgotten someone significant).

Whats is good about the overhyped ball that Burnley now play. I am not saying I even rated them but i believe Kompany is no better.

No, you're right mate.

It's easy to take a team newly relegated, that's lost basically all it's best players in the summer and transform a club that's known for its long ball hard working hopefuls to well coached, pass and move football and succeed at doing it in less than a year and be on course to break records in the most competitive league in world football.

How could we all be so blind?!

Here's a good video for you.

All that is rather easy to do as a 37 year old coach though, of course.

Too balanced mate.

The facts will be dismissed in favour of bias.

By the way good post.

By results and points etc ain't they going to break all championship records?
The Championship is in massive financial difficulty and they were allowed to sign 19 players and have serious financial irregularities. and they will still only get 5 more points than a Norwich team that strengthened their team with 8 players. The fact is what he has done is nothing special it is just hype if he does this in the Premier League. The fact is Burnley have bought their way up by spending the most in the Championship this season.

Lol what!?

They have a net spend of upwards of -40,000,000 this season...

Thanks for posting that - I don't pay much attention to that league, and had gathered from various posters on here that VC had bought his way to success, or at least been heavily helped by significant investment. Now just looking at their ins and outs as a result of your post, I see it's not like that at all! As you say, round about £40m net gain on transfers this season!

Not sure I agree on the midfield bit. In recent years the systems / formations haven't helped our midfielders, but in the right system Bentancur, Biss, Skipp, PEH all have a very useful mix of attributes to be really useful for us in different ways and in different games, allowing really good options when all fit and firing (which I realise hasn't happened yet). Admittedly that still leaves us without a true central creator, but that's just one role to fill (albeit it a tricky and probably very expensive one - many thought N'Dombele and/or Lo Celso would be it, and the club parted with big sums for them, but both were ultimately total failures for us).

Totally agree on the defence, and surely that will be rectified at least to some extent this summer. Would be great to see 2 new high-quality faces there, but expect it will be just one. Will be extremely disappointed if we don't sign anyone first-choice there...
100%.

Our midfield isn't the issue, though the addition of a player like Madison will, I believe, complete it properly.

Defence is the priority IMO, particularly the CB and goalkeeper positions. That is where the main focus needs to be regarding recruitment.

Championship - Transfer income and expenditures

They still spent 20 Million Euros more than any championship team all because they had some over valued assets which they could sell.

Nathan Collins - Wolves 24.3M Craig Dawson Plays over him
Maxwell Cornet - West Ham 20.3M Played 8 times for a team battling relegation
Dwight McNeil- Everton 17M Team battling Relegation
Pope- 10M Only real loss

Basically they got very lucky how overvalued their players were otherwise they would not be looking at Back to Back Relegations,

The fact is the Championship is at breaking point after years of team overspending and the rise in transfer fees. Every club is struggling look at Sheffield United they are second and are struggling to pay their staff and had to make cut backs so they did not get a points deduction. Burnley have also been under Transfer Embargo because they have not submitted their accounts because of a change of auditor.

Their are massive questions over Burnley and yes Kompany has done a good job but I believe he is still very much untested and may be very over hyped in the long run.

My understanding is that they were placed under a transfer embargo because their accounts were submitted late and they expect it resolved prior to the summer window opening.
I’m not aware of ‘serious financial irregularities’. Can you source?
They have not submitted their accounts because it would mean breaking FFP in the Championship which could lead to points deduction. Burnley are likely to be audited by one of the big 4 previously and will probably changed to another one of the big four. The fact is their is little difference in the auditor unless you want to delay submitting your accounts.

I have a lot of reservations over Kompany but at least it would be a ballsy and brave move.

The absolute worst thing to do would be to go down the Nuno route and just appoint whoever's available, i.e. Rodgers or Potter
