he had better players at wolves at one point imo and didnt do as well as he is now. NF and his current crop are just the right fit, a sweet alignment for the moment that sometimes happens. If chelsea offered him the role in the summer he'd probably be a disaster.

no shade on us at all imo, if we kept him don't think he'd turn it around at all, there were zero positive metrics to cling to , but at forest it just clicks.

good for him

They are having that little bit of luck that you need too. Cunha banned yesterday was a big help. Wolves had most the ball and chances despite the 3-0 scoreline but lacked that killer instinct. I think if Cunha was playing it could have been very different.

Nuno also had the unfortunate timing of coming in when we and the players still had the CL final in our recent memory. And he had to take over for Jose Mourinho.

It's a similar position to Rafa Benitez when he took over for Jose at Inter. The players were not willing to work for him like they were for Jose.

Hell, Kane actively went on strike to try and force a move.

I recall a Wolves fan coming on here stating that Wolves had (Mendes) international players when Nuno got them promoted from the Championship, and basically Wolves had better players that most other teams including mid and bottom PL teams. So Nuno was shit and the players made him look good.

So we appointed him on a false premise.

That was that Wolves fan's narrative.

Hopefully, Forest are this year’s Leicester.
Would love them to win it and perhaps the “neutral” teams will bend over backwards to give them a leg up where possible.
I really like Nuno. A gentleman in football who was in the wrong job at the wrong time & in the wrong circumstances when he was with us.
And them winning it is by far the lesser of any other evil.

I watched the game last night and Forest are anything but a boring team to watch. He’s doing well back in the midlands with his proper coaching team (which we didn’t provide to him).
He was treated abysmally here - had no time, no coaching team, not given any money, sacked as soon as things started to go wrong. People bang on about giving Ange time but Nuno was afforded no patience whatsoever.

That said, my gut feeling is it wouldn't have worked out longer term, I don't think it was the right fit for either party, whereas the stars have aligned at Forest.

I remember when he was appointed I read quite a few articles on him on the athletic as I was trying to be positive about his appointment. In fairness, they portrayed the manager we are seeing now. But I agree it was never going to work and he only felt like a copout for Conte not coming that summer and we were desperate for any manager at that point.

He wasn't meant to be here, he was just a placeholder for Conte, he knew that, the players new that, the fans

Paratici was the one who told him to change his tactics and play a 4 at the back...Paratici's office was bigger than his as well.

He was never the right fit, we panicked and got someone in because we fucked up the search in the Summer hence why he walked away with £10m, done pretty well out of us if you ask me.

For me, the fans are too quick to judge when a manager is not meant to be at Tottenham. Only 5% wanted Poch before he took the job. Nuno, like most managers, wasn't backed with good players or given time on his philosophy. My point to Levy has always been if you can't back a manager's philosophy then don't bother hiring him to inevitably sack him.

I also personally don't see a problem with sticking two of your biggest cunts at centre-back, telling them to head anything that moves in the box, and playing out on the counter. Conte and Ranieri won leagues on the counter with very basic tactics. Moyes did better at West Ham with simple plans.

I remember when Nuno beat Man City with Kane looking for a transfer and the UK trying to get out of Afghanistan. It was a celebration of getting our Tottenham back. Back from the toxicity of post-Madrid Mourinho.

He was finished the moment he was appointed. He was 7th or 8th choice, was only appointed in desperation a week before pre season, was only given a 2 year contract, didnt bring all his coaching staff with him and was told how he should play as we didnt want any more boring football. He basically had zero authority from the off and always felt like an interim. Treated abysmally from start to finish.

Tell me again, why did we get rid of Nuno??

Because he got stitched up in a classic bit of Italian Omerta. He was always a prop till Paratici could get Conte. Bloke got thrown under the bus. The question is why so many were quick to simply buy into the idea he was an idiot. As a bloke working in not his native language he has never spoken as much rubbish as the coach we currently have. Ange makes Nuno look like Rinus Michaels Sir Archibald Crooks Sir Archibald Crooks is right you give your full time manager a 2yr contract you are publicly disrespecting him a telling players don't listen to him he isn't staying.

Nuno is a good manager but he plays a certain type of football that was never going to be accepted here after the Mourinho era.

Levy made a big noise about returning to the Tottenham DNA that summer which should have completely disqualified a manager like Nuno. He cannot implement that type of football, I actually feel sorry for him because he felt obliged to deviate from his own ideas which was never going to work.

I was being facetious, I know exactly why he was hired/fired. I made the post after I had just watched Forest demolish Brighton and how gracious he was in his interview. Like Martin Jol before him, I think we treated a good man abominably.

I know you were luv, I was just underlining the utter hash Levy has made of near every thing. Like Jol, like Nuno and what about the ones he gets credited for. Pochettino, Levy desperately want Luis Van Gaal. 😫 He needs to stay out of the football completely but his ego will NEVER let him. Even farming off Pleat. The football side has no one with any real football pedigree involved and it shows. Why isn't Steve Perryman knocking around to just bounce ideas off? Its horrible. Can Ange be that fragile he feels threatened by a retired Perryman. I'd love to know what Steve thinks of our midfield void.

I remember Pulis at Stoke being lauded when he'd got them up to 5th beating all sorts on the way.. just saying.
I think NF are having a wonderful season but it would have still been a no from me.

He doesn't play long ball football like Pulis, that's not what Gibbs-white and Elanga are doing. The point is we never saw his football because he was never allowed the respect Forest have given him by Paratici.

Its too counter based for my tastes in fact it's very much like Thomas Frank plays , which people seem far more forgiving of( I don't want Frank or this very reason) but the clear truth is it's far more effective sustainable and easy on the eye than playground Ange ball that some seem to love. Weird congestive dissonance.

That's very fair, we didn't allow him enough time, my point was more about that some teams and managers have a purple period then fade back.
Gibbs-White is a very under appreciated and Elanga is decent too.
