Just read Sugar said campbell is a complete liar. Hard nosed businessman yes lord sugar but hes been taken to court numerous times being accused by people and hes won. Sugar is a cheap suit merchant the same as Levy. Year on year he ( like Levy ) did the minimum to bring the clubs level up to an acceptable standard. When the money was flying around places like Boro who had players like Ravenelli, Sugar stayed home and counted his profits. ENIC came in and shat all over George Graham and did fuck all to Stop Scumball going. Talk of £100k a week is a nice deflection, but it does not tell the reality of the situation at the time.
I hate what Campbell did. Hate it. But he was a great player, club captain and a player you clearly needed to keep by showing some ambition. GG wins a cup against the odds and what exactly happened next ? It was certainly not building on the success to hand. And unfortunately that’s why it all unfolded as it did. Normally in these situations the motive to keeping something like this going is money, but it can't be for him - he made enough also married into a very wealthy family.
So either;
- he just wants to keep himself in the public eye
- he actually thinks that at some point everyone is going to agree with him that he did nothing wrong

Sol Campbell has been treated very unfairly over the years. An amazingly gifted footballer - doubtless one of the greatest England (possibly the World) has ever seen - and at the end of the day, just a professional individual who is entitled to ply his trade wherever he would like to do so. If he wasn't such a kind person he wouldn't be abused so badly by people who just don't understand and he would definitely have the Sir he so richly deserves. What a great bloke.
