Surely, you can see that's fair?I'm English and never understand this argument because surely you can see that Tottenham or Liverpool or Man United etc, and even the entire Premier League in general are separate cultural artefacts to the National Team? Like they all have foreign players, management, employees and the whole experience of going to a club game is completely different to going to an England game. I'm sure the reason they want the National Team to lose is because how strongly tied it is to the English nationalist identity, which does exist in aspects of the Premier League and other parts of English culture of course but not in such a "we are better than you" way which could be viewed as problematic to many people from countries affected by the Empire in the past.
