Always seemed weird there wasn't more interest from top clubs on the continent for this guy, so this at least helps makes sense of the situation and keeps him away from Woolwich.

"€7m net salary per season. "

Way less than the £300kpw that was being banded about a week or two ago!

€7m = £5.83m / 52 = £112kpw !!!

"will undergo medical tests in Turin and sign his long-term contract soon. Deal completed."

Medical not done and contract not signed but "deal complete"........ GAGHGHGHGHGHGHG Fucking hate these twitter-cunts so much!!!!

Net means post-tax.

The convention in England is to report pre-tax wages, but they're usually referred to post-taxes on the continent. It gets confusing.

And of course Italy has favorable tax laws for football, but I think only for new entries to the country/league.

Think most reports stemming from last year suggested he wanted to stay in Italy.

We just choice to ignore that part.
Juventus have made a great economic effort because they need a great number 9. This guy is one of the best U23s on the continent. He fully agree with the choice of the club. And then it seems that he only wanted to deal with Juventus. Now the fight for one of the four Champions League places is a reality. Even against Milan I had seen a "square" team but with Morata & friend unable to score

Still, even if you apply 50% to that large amount it's still way under on the basis of a 5 year deal.

Out of nowhere, Calum Chambers to Villa.

I don't understand that one at all. No fee apparently, so it's basically picking him up on a free.

At one point Arse were reported to be paying him 130kpw so the Scum are probably just happy to get ride.....

Deeper story there though...... That's now 5 out since their first cup tie against Liverpool.

What's worse is the mock ups of them in the shirt are now so realistic you see done deal and the pic and get fooled into thinking it's from an official announcement, then 2 weeks later it's confusing when you see a player still playing for the old club!

One wonders what the relegation clauses look like in these contracts.

But that seems like another astute move if they can stay up.
They're definitely staying up now, they were so shit for so long and yet the rest of the fodder down there were also so shit they never managed to build any kind of points gap, now they only need a win or two and they will be comfortably clear...

He's an average player but versatile. He can do a job in three or four positions and every manager loves to have a player or two like that in their squad. A James Milner. For free it looks a solid signing for Villa.

Something tells me if we signed him or someone like him you wouldn't be as enthusiastic 🤭
